Yeah true. Most important thing is he improved his goalscoring though. 18 goals this season at this stage for a winger in his role is not bad at all. It's already an improvement over last season

What he is doing is clearly extremely impressive.
If can get to 50 goals/assist without being on set pieces and penalties for most part.. at 18 that is ridiculous.
He is the one in team who by far creates chances for himself let alone others.

Was always going to score more and more goals and will go up and up as gets more central positions.
Impressive he does all that while being the attacking player in team with most tackles/interceptions.

Also, have another look at the video. The Villareal player attempts to kick him just after the ball bounce. 100 percent in the same situation Jude, Mbappe or Vini hit the deck and shout for a penalty.

i shouldve said “entertain idea”. And it was a fan question. But at least they addressed it.
But generally among pundits there is a reluctance to properly rate Lamine.
I promise you that very few of them is ready for the idea that between Mbappe and Lamine , Lamine is also the more professional player.
A few of them want to keep the narrative intact that Lamine has long way to go in sense of maturing blabla. Or are in denial or rarely watch him.
In minds of many mbappe still de facto best player in world even when not contender for balon dor in a specific season.

If Yamal gets back to last season form he'll be up in contention for best player in the world again. It's totally up to him. But he will hit the same issue. Nobody is gonna consider him the best if others win more and score in CL finals and such. World Cup counts a lot too.
