11 - Raphinha

It was reported when he renewed the contract to 2028 that a release clause of 80m had been added and a chance it could be used for him to leave after the World Cup.
Would be dumb to do unless we have a clear idea who to replace him with and that someone is a proven footballer who's willing to put in at least 50℅ of the work Rapha does

And for 80m... it would be dumb to do regardless. For 80m go absolute bums nowadays, not ballon d'or contenders

Just let him recover properly. His age is irrelevant here. You want him to stay the same, work hard when he plays, press like a mad man, make runs, all that stuff. But you have to rest him.

Which is why putting him on vs Santander, some 3rd league team in the Cup is a stupid thing to do. That's how he missed the Sociedad game.

We didn't handle him well so far this season, and that's why he is nagged by injuries. I know he's important but it doesn't do anyone any good if he is not physically well.

Exactly, Rashy will be just fine...

He is not one of those who will milk his stay here if he cannot provide at max level. Think Saudi is a real option for him soon with all that money. Maybe even this summer.

He's 29, a Brazilian winger, works exceptionally hard and relies a lot on his physical attributes.

Injuries aren't surprising.

Shouldn't rush back at all and needs a complete recovery.

He's going to decline really fast when his legs give up, he's the type of player who ages the worst. Maybe it's already happening this season with all the injuries but hope not. The club should bring a guy like Bissiwu or Eduardo so they could learn and replace him in a year or two but we prefer lazy English bum.

Nah, his physical level and professionalism tell me he's gonna still be fast until 34 or so.

I don't think Raphinha's professionalism or mentality will be the problem, just if the body can cope with intensity and if his pace can keep up. He is only good enough if he plays on his 100% intensity because of the type of player he is. Someone like Yamal can take it easy and still be the best player, Rapha can't.

If he left for 80m and got that on the books as profit you could in theory sign likes of Alvarez or another for that this summer if 1:1 and if on similar salary have +64m on the books altough closer to +48m on the books for next two seasons.

You would be well on way to covering a defender like Bastoni.

At that point the argument could be what is better Raphinha/Araujo or Alvarez/Bastoni for example.

If get Alvarez could also probably sell Ferran separately or part of deal if Vlahovic was seen as realistic option.

Could then have potentially Rashford/Alvarez/Fermin as options from the left.... Olmo/Fermin/Alvarez options at AM and at CF Alvarez/Vlahovic and at a push Olmo or also Lewa on very low salary if accepted it.

All while having a lot of cash to improve defence and depth there.

There is more for club to think about than just '80m would not be enough'.

Salah is EXTREMELY professional but fell off a cliff this season and has been one of the worst starting players in the PL this season.

And Salah isn't as reliant on pace, intensity and stamina as Raphinha is.

You can never really predict.

This makes no sense
Rashford is not there to learn from Raphinha
