Ter Stegen is the voted Captain, and letting another player lifting the trophy is his decision alone, rightfully so.
There is nothing egotistical here, those players see each other on daily basis and see who does what and who suffers during certain times.
The fact that Araujo left the trophy shows the team and the Captain are behind him and support him.
This was absolutely classy. And there was no reason for Araujo to decline.
