The contract extension in the summer is looking terrible right now and could only get worse if we don't manage to offload him in the summer.

Offensively he was ok. Combined well several times, assist, some good passes over this, but shite in 1 vs 1 at the back. His issue is not speed or quality, but self sufficiency. In other words, some form of laziness. It is problematic for a player like that to have no competition for his spot.

He needs a break, especially mentally. It's clear by now chaining games doesn't help him at all, on the contrary. Walking out of the offside during the first goal is unacceptable. Now with Frenkie and Pedri back, Eric becomes free for the RB position again. Sit him the rest of December on the bench and let's try again in the new year.
