Now all those words from Frank Rijkaard about Messi back in 2004 when he was just breaking into first team make even more sense. And that was Messi we are talking about. One of the most focused individuals out there.

Basically he kept repeating we need to take it slow and have patience.

Maybe we had the luxury then to be more patient but words are nonetheless true.

And then you had characters like Puyol, Marquez, Ronaldinho, Eto'o, Larsson, Xavi... Players who commanded respect. There was hierarchy and much much less distractions.
Susceptible and lacking in guidance boys like Lamine would have benefited from that environment.

If Dembele stayed, you guys would be more patient with Lamine.

You know i dont take this award serious since CR7 didnt win the Puskas with his bycycle goal vs Juve

The volley deserved to be at least top3 this year but there are also some other goals from other players which deserved to be in short list too

I learned to skip or ignore through any post I see re. awards. Twitter is full of it and many of those awards are arbitrary and many of the posts are made specifically to rule people up.

The Inter goal should've been there instead for sure. Both given the circumstances and how technically proficient it was. It was Messiesque stuff. The Espanol one is just his run of the mill curler in the top corner. Yawn.

Bangers but none of these are puskas worthy. There are genuinely unbelievable goals scored every year but the Puskas often goes to the fancy looking bicycle kick or extravagant volley. I prefer goals that involve long extended moments of brilliance leading up to a goal (individual or team).

Timestamped the greatest pre-asist from our eternal maestro. This pass really burned in my memory as one of the defining moments of both Peps tiktak football and Xavis genius. Nothing like that could be seen anymore.
