Xavi Hernández

Former Barcelona midfielder and head coach Xavi Hernández has knocked back an approach to take up the managerial reins at Russian giants Spartak Moscow.

That’s according to Diario Sport, citing ‘Metaratings.ru’, who have confirmed that the Spaniard has been sounded out as a replacement for the under-fire Dejan Stanković.

Xavi, however, has already made clear that he has little interest in the project.

Doubt Xavi would be turned to ahead of the likes of Iraola/Glasner.

These jobs have all come up in past and Xavi never seemed to be any real consideration.

Wouldnt be surprised if one of the big clubs part way with their coach very soon to get in ahead of other for Iraola.

I wouldnt be surprised if he waits until Hansi is fired to complete his coaching career at Barca and win a cl. He was nearly in semi final in his last season and he feels probably he would win it with an another chance

He should go to a smaller club before takinh on a big job imo. Apply the experience you had in Barça, improve your system a bit, maybe for a season or two, some rich ass club where you can buy players and test all you want (like Fabregas at Como). Then big clubs will naturally have a lot of interest and he can start from stretch.

🚨🗣️ Xavi on his regrets as Barça coach: "I started my coaching career at Barça with high demands for the players and the club, as the club was coming out of a period where there weren't many demands..."

"My biggest mistake was that I maintained these high standards just for a year, from the time I arrived until we won La Liga, the Super Cup. But then I stopped... Some time after that, I was able to be self-critical and I said to myself, 'What happened to me?'"

"I had lowered those high standards and the players no longer had the same attitude, the same respect, the same effort. The standards kept getting lower and lower to the point that in my last season we didn't win anything. I learned a lot from this. I had to be self-critical."
