23 - Jules Kounde

He’s been terrible lately and he’s holding back Lamine’s potential on that side imo. Modern full-backs should be fast and technical , qualities Kounde doesn’t have. It’s not really his fault though, since that’s not his natural position.

Some of the performances from him have been truly unacceptable.

Players have bad form, but this isn't. These are his weaknesses being highlighted against dangerous attackers.

As a player who offers less going forward and is mainly a defensive resource he should be relied upon to hold his side of the pitch down and to prevent counter attacks, but more often than not, he is losing out to agile attackers.

In particular, his change in physique has only negatively affected him. He doesn't win any more physical duels than he did, or he wins less, but he is significantly less agile than he was. He has not benefitted and as I said many times this type of routine should be controlled by the club. Players shouldn't be undergoing physical transformations without assessment of the club.

The best that can be said is he is fairly all round in that he isn't terrible in any area, but he isn't particularly good in any area too, and he used to be a much better defender when he was at Sevilla.

He is a CB being played as a RB. One of Xavis signings. He wanted to play as CB but Xavi insisted on him being RB. I would like him back at CB.
Another thing. Is he fit? He's looking slow and laboured. I don't know if it's a confidence issue or a physical issue. Hope he gets back to an acceptable level.

Yep, the gym destroyed this guy. He probably wanted to be better defensively but should have known it will completely fuck his offensive duties because with so big body you move like a tank. And even to defensive duties it's less about strength and more about intelligence and tech.
