16 - Fermín López

If you have talent to start for Barcelona by definition you have talent to start for 99.999999999% of teams in the world

Good hat track and finishes.

The Barca front four at moment has too many all or nothing players and lacks balance to get ball in final third with any patience.

It is something liked from Roony. He assesses if it worth a risk and will play it simple if not. While others in comparison try and overly force the issue every time... Yamal been guilty of that recently.

Roony is not a better player than those others clearly but he is one who shows more balance of when to attack and when not to in recent games.

Fine v the shite but against good teams when need to get a foot hold in the game it is all very chaotic and open.

Can they out gun Real again in an open game? Maybe but doesnt look like it is on card from last few weeks.

Pedri in last few games been doing shuttle runs between a chaotic defence and chaotic front line. It lessens his chance to take control of the game.

Thats not a slight on Fermin as he is who he is.. high risk high reward but the balance of gung ho needs to be there more than is across the front four as a whole too many times this season.

Only Pedri and Frenkie are the ones that show any real patience in the final third.

Thats not to say Fermin shoudnt start its a point ouwith that and the front four whoever is in it at moment. Just if he is or whoever is there needs to be a better balance with patience at times for me to help the team in the bigger games.

Said during pre-season. Dump Olmo’s =]* and let’s just rely on Fermin, doesn’t matter the shortcomings.

Yes Olmo is better combining in small spaces, but useless when injured or playing as if perpetually have concrete in boots.

There are not many teams that play four gung ho attackers currently and it is very chaotic.

PSG dont as play with three midfielders, City havent been recently with Foden/Silva playing more of combining and last third possession approach.

Looks like Liverpool doing the same even with Wirtz and not being that free player.

Barca on other hand...Rashy, Raphinha, Lewa, Ferran, Yamal, Olmo, Fermin the front four players any four when fit and they all play high risk/reward game.

To me it looks too chaotic and not giving the likes of Pedri the best chance to control the game as he is running shuttles up and down park and the midfield is losing shape between the chaotic defence and chaotic front line.

Teams are playing on that and learning how and where to break more efficiently it feels like.

So is he a better player than Wirtz? That's one of the hot takes on X right now. Both same age, siniliar positions. I think Fermin is more impactful and more accomplished than Wirtz currently.

I think wirtz will find his form so no. They should give him time. You should ask the same question in the future

Fermin for me is a better talent than Pedro, certainly on the ball. As useful he was, the latter also benefitted from playing along side elite teammates in almost all areas of the pitch, Fermin on the other hand is having to do much of the heavy lifting on his own.

With Olmo, Barca were essentially playing with a man down. Fermin may be inconsistent but atleast he makes his presence count on the pitch (by his hustle alone). So its good to have a full XI again.

A fully fit on form Olmo is good to have look at the Euros.

But Fermin is currently and for awhile now better. I think Fermin still remains the type of player that gets sold for 90m because Barca always wants the shiniest La Masia stars in the game. Which is why he might go since he was never really a big La Masia hype job

Fermin would hardly have a place on the bench for Pep's Barca, let alone start games.

Pedro started and scored in a CL final against prime Man Utd and was an important player for Chelsea when they won the title with Conte. Not to mention his overall trophy cabinet.

You lot should seriously consider laying off the drugs, messes up with your brains.

Never forget Xavi stopped the club from transfering him to Poland for 500k€.....

Pep's Barca had likes of Tello and Cuenca starting and playing a lot. Fermin would have absolutely been a rotation option there.

Pedri is better than Xavi and Iniesta, Fermin better than Pedro... How old are the guys who say shit like this?

Fermin is in the same talent bracket, don't let the nostalgia fool you. Probably won't have a career as good, but it's up to the future.

Fermin is not as technically gifted as all those mentioned. Olmo has more technique as well.

But Fermin has mental edge and decent shot. Good reading abilities as well and is not lazy.
