Pini Zahavi brought some investors with him to meet with Laporta to help out the club financially.
This is news that should make any culer nervous. Big agents like Zahavi are sharks and don't give a shit about helping a club like ours and we shouldn't involve them in these matters either.
It would not last for a decade, it would last for ever (in a fan owned system). We would loose our standing, would loose many of the so called „success fans“ which would mean we would earn much less from merchandise, ticket sales etc. That would probably lead to Barca no longer being able to service their loans (espai barca) due to insufficient stadium revenue. We would probably fall into a downward spiral that would ultimately lead to bankruptcy and a sale to investors. What's more, if, as you say, Barca doesn't play in the Champions League for 10 years, the income from the league TV pot would be far lower due to a poorer ranking than it is now with the Lever percentage deducted. A lot of what Laporta did wasn't perfect, but he still reduced net debt from €680 million to €469 million, which is a 30% reduction in five years. I think that's very strong considering that he also made us competitive on the pitch.I would much rather be a mid table club with no CL football for a decade, than sell the club for % of it.
Its the pride we will be losing. Wining anything will be hollow.
I have Faith in Masia. We will be competative. It would not last for a decade, it would last for ever (in a fan owned system). I would also support barca if it is a mid team for a decade but i would not want to loose it to investors, one point why i doesnt like those plastic investor premier league teams
Edit: Oh, I'm just now realizing that you meant, "I'd rather be a mid-table team before selling the club." I completely agree, but I think, as I explained, a mid-table Barca would only lead us to this scenario if we play in the Champions League and can service our debts. There won't be a sale.
We'll be playing with Hamas on our shirts in no time. Gazprom and Lukoil on the sleeves for good measure.
Barcelona will never die. Only team in Europe to play European competition every season since 1955.I have Faith in Masia. We will be competative.
Also we will lose the same amount of fans when Messi left. And we have recovered frorm it. Dont forget most Succes Fans were Messi fans too.
I am not saying it will be 100% rossy, and easy to build back. But I have faith on This Badge, Masia and football we play and given to the world that we will always be in the top, even with no money and crushing debt.
So I dont want to sell its soul. It does far worse damage.
Plus imagine, come 5 years time, we are the only Top club thats fan owned. That's something no one will be able to beat.
I mean, Zahavi will be a brooker to a deal like that. Which is a normal practice.
And you think investors as in buying shares? I think it is more levers
