If he does well overall, it will be stupid to not trigger such a low buy option clause.
A clever idea will be to have a fixed base salary, and incentives and performance-related clauses that increase his salary (kind of like LAmine's new contract).
That will make sure he has no interest in flopping when he gets his secure contract

But could be that he is someone that gets bored quickly and needs to be incentivised regularly.
