Hansi Flick - how do we rate him?

The moment he adapts that high line and stops risking after 80-th minute we'll become a stronger team. If we want to win trophies than sometimes we'll need to drop back and wait especially in the CL. Taking unnecessary risk costed us last season against Inter and this season already against PSG. Against Inter we had a 3-2 lead in 87th minute and we chased the forth goal. Furthermore, against PSG few minutes before the final whistle a draw was more than OK especially considering how they outplayed us in the second half. That's not a beautiful way of playing but rather a plain stupidity.

Has Hansi deserved a credit? Absolutely! Should he continue even if we don't win anything this season? He definitely should! However, unnecessary risk taking isn't something he should be applauded for.

He did a very good job in his first season but some of you guys are writting like he's some God and we are some small club that has to be so thankful someone like that came to us. Far from it, Flick is a good manager but has many flaws and those are getting bigger with each game. He lifted us up but his style isn't suitable for long term, at least not at Barca and with this generation who doesn't seem as hungry as the previous golden era team. Looks like they think they are some hot shots who don't have to run anymore because they won 1 (or 2) La Liga. The amigos did that after 3 CLs and 5 LLs.

He won't adapt, he proved and said it and it will cost him his job one day. There is no point in talking how much better we would be if we adapted if our coach won't adapt, that's part of Flick.

If we lose all the titles because of his obsession with playing high line every second of every game and Lucho becomes avaliable I know what I would do.

His time at Barca will determine whether he's a klopp or a bielsa.

Bielsa would have won at least 1 league title if you gave him the opportunity to manage a talented team like Barca, but his football wouldn't be sustainable over 2+ seasons.

The best managers stay true to their core philosophy but adapt on the edges

Surely his analysts and assistants must be providing feedback.
It looks like the team has lost its hunger and unfortunately believes in its hype.
This season we've been a step slower and it shows.
If we go trophyless this season Flick will be gone. Than its onto another manager who will make different demands and want different players.
We need a proper stable long term project. At the moment it's very hit and miss. I'm a Flick fan but he needs to adapt. This team could play well on the counter but imo Flick doesn't trust the defence, especially the cbs.

He's already miles clear of Bielsa.

You're forgetting that he has already won a sextuple at Bayern (apart from his domestic treble at Barca).

There's no guarantee Bielsa can actually win major trophies with his methods at a superclub. He seems a bit insane.

Flick is dogmatic only in terms of his philosophy and tactics. As a personality, he's very calm and mature.

His personality is what makes him really different from the mad one.

Bielsa is more or less like an academic guy who everyone can learn from, but even his students are better in the professional settings.

He doesn't belong to this discussion, at all.

Marcelo Bielsa's criticism of modern football:

“I am certain that football is in a process of decline. More and more people are watching this sport, but it is becoming less and less attractive. We do not favour what made it the best sport in the world."

We promote business, because business means that a lot of people watch the matches. But over time, there are fewer and fewer footballers worth watching, the game is less and less enjoyable, and this artificial increase in spectator numbers will be reduced.

Football is not five minutes of action, it is much more than that, it is a cultural expression, a form of identification.”

Mister knows.

Yes there are glaring issues in the defensive shape but to me it still seems surprisingly unacknowledged how we have more or less abandoned the attacking style that made us good last season.

Go and watch the highlights from the 4-0 at Bernabeu or the 3-0 against Bayern. The way we attack seems unrecognizable based on our current gameplay. We have simply become way more focused on building possession than attacking on the move.

Injuries now, sure, but we still choose to go out and play the way we go. And it is still very different from last season.

The silent assumption now seems to be that the fruitful chaos of last year's success was always unrealistic in the long term, that we would sooner or later have to "mature" into a more controlled barca-style protagonism. To me this is just a lack of nerve, comfort zone thinking.

A lot of what we were missing is those two games is raphinha making his runs and the quick releases and progressive passing of casado at the start of last season
