This Madrid is very balanced and I believe they have better chances than us for the league. In direct encounters we might win but they have a very good system for smaller teams. Can defend, can attack, can control, have great depth. In CL I dont think they will win because this season there is some serious competition, but the league they can easily get if we drop stupid points like last season. All in all likely to be more competitive this season. Winner will need well over 90 points

Barca draws 1,5 times the viewers as Madrid, close to the entire league combined. Let's make their life hell, that they can't even register a 20m signing, what can go wrong generating TV income.

Probably because Madrid played on Saturday night vs Mallorca. Barca's match was scheduled Sunday night when usually everyone is at home getting ready to start work on Monday. It was also the biggest match of this round.

But would be curious to know what are the viewing figures overall between the two.

Yeah they're bloth close usually, with a narrow advantage for us. According to MD last season:

The report details that Los Blancos drew an average of 1,468,000, behind leaders Barca on 1,570,000.

Still, we're the only reason neutral fans watch LaLiga as a competition between Barca and Madrid. And additionally for our attractive offensive playstyle.

Those numbers are pretty poor generally, when you take the entire league into consideration.

1.5 for Barca and Madrid aren't terrible, that's about what most NBA games get and their TV deal is probably 5x la liga's for many reasons.

Domestic audience though.

Not bad considering last weekend of summer and many are away, and this watching in bars, etc.
