15 - Andreas Christensen

Reading the thread it seems like some want Christensen to say tah tah.

I think he's a pretty decent and competent defender but obviously the big issue is (as discussed with Sane) the lack of reliability and durability.

Rumours in the know have been two big signings next summer.

Aaron Bastoni of Novara and Julian Alvarez.

We screwed.

Would be much better storyline than after the first two movies.
Brings up a question of why the first two films are often by far the best in a series.

Alien and Aliens (Director Cut) - though the assembly cut of Alien 3 is apparently much better than theatrical, and the new Romulus was good.

T1 and T2 were by far the best then they went downhill, even if I enjoy Dark Fate as a guilty pleasure.

The Superman first two films, especially if the second is the Donner cut. The rest of the 70s and 80s series is poor.

Even the Batman Nolan trilogy - I like TDKR but everyone says Batman Begins and TDK are by far the best.

Spider-Man 1 and 2 are clearly both much better than 3 (Raimi trilogy).

Godfather 3 is apparently good in the Coda, but the first two far better.

Are there any other franchise examples? There are reasons for many of these, but it's still an interesting pattern.

Star Wars original 1st and 2nd movies are way better than Return of the Jedi.

Pirates of the Caribbean 1st and 2nd movies once again are better than the 3rd movie. (I don't acknowledge the movies after the 3rd)

The only movie series that stayed the same is Lord of the Rings which was even quality throughout and the last movie was the best

Good points mate, overlooked Star Wars. Never seen PotC films myself.

LOTR is probably like that because it's really one long story/film or miniseries. Whereas plenty of the rest (Star wars aside) branch out to tell different stories.

To be honest, last season I thought they had all these cover up injuries because he was absolutely finished as a player and would retire this summer. It felt like there was no will from either club or player to return. Now however there are huge expectations to become the leading CB of the club. Would be incredible if he could stay fit and be reliable for a full season.

Tendon issues are always incredibly slow to heal and tricky to deal with, especially the achilles. I just think it was the injury and nothing else.

But hopefully it’s truly in the past now, and he’ll stay fit. Aside from not being left footed and unable to acces the same passing lanes as Iñigo, I think he’ll be an upgrade.

At the 2022 World Cup, his top speed was 34.5 km/h.

Pretty good. I don't think Inigo has ever shown such numbers.

He's now in the same situation Inigo was last summer. Coming from a Xavi year with mostly injuries and mediocre performances, with the majority insulting the board to have him signed. Under Flick, he played an amazing, mostly injury free season and played a big part in last season's success.

We need to hope, that Christensen will follow in his footsteps the same way. Stay fit, develop under Flick's leadership into a top defender.
