I think he's a pretty decent and competent defender but obviously the big issue is (as discussed with Sane) the lack of reliability and durability.

Brings up a question of why the first two films are often by far the best in a series.Would be much better storyline than after the first two movies.
Star Wars original 1st and 2nd movies are way better than Return of the Jedi.Brings up a question of why the first two films are often by far the best in a series.
Alien and Aliens (Director Cut) - though the assembly cut of Alien 3 is apparently much better than theatrical, and the new Romulus was good.
T1 and T2 were by far the best then they went downhill, even if I enjoy Dark Fate as a guilty pleasure.
The Superman first two films, especially if the second is the Donner cut. The rest of the 70s and 80s series is poor.
Even the Batman Nolan trilogy - I like TDKR but everyone says Batman Begins and TDK are by far the best.
Spider-Man 1 and 2 are clearly both much better than 3 (Raimi trilogy).
Godfather 3 is apparently good in the Coda, but the first two far better.
Are there any other franchise examples? There are reasons for many of these, but it's still an interesting pattern.
Good points mate, overlooked Star Wars. Never seen PotC films myself.Star Wars original 1st and 2nd movies are way better than Return of the Jedi.
Pirates of the Caribbean 1st and 2nd movies once again are better than the 3rd movie. (I don't acknowledge the movies after the 3rd)
The only movie series that stayed the same is Lord of the Rings which was even quality throughout and the last movie was the best
