Even if our registration is walking a tightrope, I think it is pretty clear that we are on an upward trajectory and passing the worst of the issues.

As others have said, just an excuse.

Plus if we can only spend 25m on Joan while also raising more than that via sales, then the system is already broke.

Have to speculate to accumulate. Can't have LaLiga clubs needing to sell before being able to buy for the same amount. Not when (a) they generate 1billion in revenue while holding Europe's largest stadia, and (b) while rival leagues operate on different FFP levels.

Look at the UEFA fine, a measely 15m for breaching FFP. A small fee to pay in order to operate in the market. LaLiga take note.

But also, Fuck UEFA, for that fine while allowing other clubs capital increases, sponsorship of ownered owned companies, selling property assets to themselves, owning two clubs and competing in same competition, etc.

His family, specially his brother Inaki are probably the main reason why he chose to stay at Pathetic Bilbao. He would be good signing but as we saw this season Barca can manage without him. I just hope they don't make some foolish signing like Luis Diaz. Rashford on loan and use that money for defence.. RB,LB,CB is also need or perhaps a striker..

This piece of shit contacted us and said he was interested. He initiated everything.
Gets a raise and backs out.
Just try and get a LW on loan. No need to spend big on some mediocre or rubbish player.
Lookman would be good. His profile is good. Experienced but not too old. Can play 2 positions. Hell, I'd even take Cancelo as back up. He can play LW, RB AND LB.

Agreed.

We need to replace Nico with an even bigger piece of shit and go loan Garnacho.

Lamine's father confirmed it as well, that they thought Nico was joining. So you can be sure Nico told Lamine as well that he wants to join Barca. He just played everyone to get the highest salary from Bilbao. A rat character, Deco is blameless here.

"Mounir posted a photo with a heart emblazoned with the Barça crest, making his Barça sentiment clear. The post was accompanied by the song "Can't Trust" by Skinny Flex, whose lyrics state "that you can't trust anyone."

Maybe he did all this as part of a complex plan for him to join mighty Arsenal for 90m after they sell Martinelli to Arabia for 85.

I don't know if he played us, not saying he did or didn't.

But he clearly knew he had other offers on the table, which is why is agent was pressing is so hard on certain guarantees, because he knew if everything wasn't absolutely perfect, he was going else where for more money.

So I'm guessing his thinking was, why go to Barca for less money and potentially a bit of stress, when I can stay here or go to Bayern for more money and no stress.

Either way fuck him, because he clearly made the first move and the club was getting things in place to sign him and he pulled out.

Bilbao have been coy on his renewal wage while media haven't mentioned a signing fee.

Those two details would give us way more incite into whats going on.

Nico is a very good system player for us. Gives us a ton of rotation solutions. But for Bilbao he is the franchise and there is nothing coming behind. Perhaps the lad they "stole" from Villarreal but I've never seen it with him. So doing everything to make him stay makes sense. Just a shame they don't want to sign non Basque elite players like we discussed previously, and instead sign none Basque Africans and say they are Basque. ;)

Personally, Im not so much bothered in missing out on Nico in that I am more concerned about our alternative choices.

Whatever the story behind it is, doesn’t really matter.

We’ve got the entire transfer window in front of us.

Yea I wanted him because I think he gives us a lot of possibilities and would be perfect succession planning with raphinha being 29 or close to it. The winger market isn't filled with a lot of high potential players right now.

With the right coaching and being around better players he would have developed into a WC player.

All that being said, I'm not too fussed he choose to stay especially given how he went about it.

Like you said it's now up to the club and our scouts to earn there keep, and bring us something more original than rashford on loan

Him staying could also mean they switch there objectives and will just go for a striker next season, in which case a rashford loan would make sense.

Time well tell.

If history is to go by, these things usually turn out for the better with this club.

Let's see what Laporta and Deco have up their sleeve.
