I hope in near future, at least in the most advanced world cities, driving will be a thing of the past
I get your sentiment, this is already a reality in many European cities where public transportation is advanced and more alternative ways for commuting (bikes, scooters, etc) exist.

Still, the majority of fatal crashes (55-60%) occur outside urban areas - that being rural, outer-city roads, highways.

I think people will have to leave the driving to automation and AI, if they want safe transportation.

It's all speculation at this point and we would have to wait for an investigation (if it ever goes public).

Apparently there was a tire blowout as they attempted to overtake another vehicle, landed off road and caught fire.

We don't know what the speed was when they crashed, could be within the speed limit or over it.

Underinflated tires flex more =>produce more heat => faster failure.
Overinflated tires have less grip, uneven wear, and can pop over bumps or at high speed.

At Lamborghini speeds, these margin errors become fatal for the tire.

Even if they drove at an unreasonably high speed, a well maintained (Y) class tire shouldn't burst (unless there is some unpredictable freak occurrence on the road: shrapnel, bolts, glass, etc), so who ever is/was in charge of maintaining this Lambo and its tires - he would be a person of interest in this case.

Of course it's speculation, it's just not common that a crash results in the entire car going up in flames like in Hollywood. Well, unless you are sitting in a Lambo it seems. Here are more articles from German media:

Spiegel is the biggest non gossip magazine in Germany.

The first article tells the story of a guy driving at 80 km/h, smelling gasoline and asking his wife on the passenger seat if she also notices. Then, a moment later the car is just up in flames. He stops the car immediately, the passenger door somehow does not open from inside. The husband has to get her wife out of the car opening the door from outside. Another quality feature.

The second article states that German Federal Motor Transport Authority of Germany started an investigation back then about Lambos going up in flames. There is also a video at the bottom where a Lambo in Dubai starts catching fire while waiting for a traffic light.

Can it be completely unrelated in this case? Sure, we can only speculate. Yet, Lambos going up in flames easily is something that I've read about for more than 15 years now.

These "anecdotal evidences" might not hold up in a court room against corporate lawyers but when there is smoke ... well ...

Sure, but in supercars fuel lines, exhaust, and engine are crammed together which, combined with a high speed crash, makes a flame burst more likely than in regular cars. Now, if Lamborghinis burst in flames even at lower speeds (like the one at 80km/h), with no crash involved and other supercars don't experience such things (or not at that rate), then there is obviously a engineering failure that is not being addressed by the manufacturer.

That being said, it could be that the crash itself was the reason for their demise and not the fire afterwards, which would make the tires and speed more important factors than the internal components.

Does anyone know if they were speeding ? The car looks absolutely deteriorated. Is that because of the fire or a high speed accident ? In case of a fire , with an accident cause at a lower speed , doesn't the car remain somehow recognizable after a fire ? His car looked absolutely destroyed at the scene

Tragic but frankly innocent lives are lost via vehicular accidents every hour around the globe never mind a millionaire in a performance vehicle and considering the dire humanitarian crisis & ongoing genocide, the imbalance on empathy for human suffering and loss of life is incomprehensible

Well, it seems like it's his birthday today. Most likely he drank a lot of alcohol and got behind the wheel. And here's the result... It's a pity about his brother and it's good that he didn't kill anyone else.
