Wasn't much of a fan of his signing but if it is between him and that Liverpool guy approaching his thirties for a similar amount of money I'd take Nico any day. Nico is not cheap, bit still a market opportunity if you consider his market value compared to his release clause. No need to negotiate and pay the extra Barça add-ons.
He is fun to watch too, yet I feel he is lacking in the sector of the end product which is also the reason why I wasn't much of a supporter of this transfer as Raphinha had a banger of a season on that left wing. Sure, need subs but all of these guys want to play. I too think Raphinha can deliver in the center, but fear his numbers will take a hit. Looking how Flick has improved some players I believe he also can improve Nico's output though.
Having chemistry with Lamine, Pedri and other team players is good for a start, but I hope we don't get another amigo situation at the club. Him 'only wanting Barça' somehow makes him likeable again, yet I still was one of the 'take your first chance signing for Barça or never get it again' - camp. Getting Olmo was right last year, but looking at his injury record reconsidering getting Nico this year makes sense.
Madrid is signing players and will improve through Xabi's signing, that's why I love that Deco and Laporta aren't sleeping on last seasons results against them and try their best to make that team even better. Adding Nico to that attacking talent already at the club might make a monster out of that team. Getting a new, young, talented GK was a step into the right direction and I hope Hansi finds a way to make that back line more stable as there is undoubtedly enough talent in the squad already.
