Santi Canizares: ""Laporta has something fantastic in Xavi, which is a shield against failure because he is a legend of Barcelona, you respect him even if you don't like him. The board feels protected having Xavi,"
Yeah, that's a problem. If board is more interested in protecting themselves and not the on on field success there is a massive issue.
When he resigned, Xavi was pissing and moaning about how cruel the job was, how it had affected his mental health and family . Now he's done a U turn. Holy crap. I don't trust him or Laporta. Another trophyless season. This is becoming a common occurrence nowadays.

I think xavi done a solid enough job. Had a handful of games that were fun to watch with plenty of attack these last months. Don’t forget we are integrating youths. Played with abysmal keeper for 1 half of season. Would have been in semi of cl if not were for araujo. We did plenty good in the clasico. Scored 3 against them with 1 goal illegimately turned down.

Fine with giving xavi at least another half season. Only other option is marquez anyways.
Just hope we can have a different no.9. Curious what he will do with gavi back.
So basically the refs done Xavi dirty. Otherwise we were in the CL final(fuck, we would have won it because RM in final with no Liga refs, it was basically ours).

Half a season means whole season. Considering this season was over at the end of January.

In the Barcelona entity they are convinced that Márquez has to be the natural replacement of Xavi Hernández and if it had not been for the rethinking of the Egarense - it was always the first option - he would have been offered the position for next season. Now, the affirmative response is expected from a technician who has been growing a lot in the concepts and the way of managing a wardrobe in recent months.

Total confidence

The proposal for one more season for Rafa Márquez means a sign of confidence of the Barcelona club with the coach of the subsidiary, 45 years old and who ends his contract on June 30. And always with the prospect of continuing to profile himself as the future coach of the first team.

These two intense years in the subsidiary have left him prepared to take the leap and this is considered by Rafa Márquez himself, but a third season at the head of the Barça Atlètic ship would still consolidate his baggage as a coach in the face of a major challenge.

Evolution and management

From the Barcelona entity they consider that the Mexican is doing a great job in the projection of very young soccer players, at a time when the quarry has acquired a lot of prominence. The First RFEF is not an easy category, especially for a subsidiary, and the evolution that Rafa Márquez has had at the head of Barça Atlètic, which this campaign is presented as a more competitive and solid team behind, has not gone unnoticed by the leaders.

BREAKING: Xavi's situation has taken an important turn in recent hours. At first it seemed that his continuity was becoming more likely, but the reality is that he's FAR from being on the Barça bench next season. The coach has LOST important support from the board. A last and imminent face-to-face meeting between President Laporta and Xavi will decide what'll happen. Xavi is more outside than inside the club for next season.
@tjuanmarti

Xavi: "I leave"
Barca: "pls nooo, stay!"
Xavi: "no, I leave, stop bothering me"
Barca: "no please, let's talk, we convince you!"
Xavi: "okay, maybe I'll stay"
Barca: "nah, on the second thought we don't want you, bye"

Its actually Xavi who has wanted to stay... as mentioned here before his leaving ploy was to try and garner validation and appreciation for his ability.

Considering it doesnt look like we will get a top coach my recommandation is: fire Oscar Hernandez and get a real assistant coach and then Xavi can stay for the next season....

Why are we making demands to Xavi if we're the ones convincing him to stay...

Sounds more like he was on the verge of being fired and did a you don't fire me I quit.
