The former never delivered for the NT, the latter...well...I liked him but he was hardly a Polack...given the citizenship at an expedited fashion so he could play for 2002 WC qualifiers - where he did excellent but that was it...a little too little to put him in the ranks of the most accomplished.

OK. I might have hijacked this thread a little bit, so I'll leave it alone for a while...but I gotta say to those of you who really believe that Lewandowski is a solution for overcoming PSG, or advancing further...however flattering that thought appeals to me, that you had better take it easy...

On a serious note, no injury. Looks fit and ready to go. Saw him sprinting close to the 120th minute so knew that there was no injury. Just a post-game ice pack for relief.

Overall, I'd say even though he is obviously declined compared to his prime days, it is not that easy to find strikers that score 30-35 goals per season.
You can generally do with less of a high-scorer at no9 position, if you can distribute the goals among 4-5 players. Say you have some excellent wingers, and a top box-to-box that can chip in with 10 goals from midfield, like Lampard used to do. But if your wingers and midfielders don't have much end product, and I'm talking mostly about goal-scoring prowess here, the no9 is gonna have to score often.
Arsenal is a good example. Odegaard scored 15 goals last season in the league. That's a huge number for an AM. You can go down that route, but looking at our midfielders, and I'm not seeing much goal-scoring potential like that.
Point is goals have to come from somewhere. Be it mainly from a high-scoring no9, or somewhat evenly distributed between top energetic forwards and CM-AMs that work hard off the ball to get to the end of chances despite playing farther away from goal compared to a classical no9. In the absence of a 9 that can score 30ish goals a season in all comps, you need most of your attacking options to chip in with some 10 goals each.
Once Lewa is gone in 1-2 seasons, a lot of burden is gonna be put on likes of Roque, Yamal, Raphinha, and whoever is left in AM, winger, and 9 positions. Together they will need to make up for 30-35 goals.
Or the club is gonna try to sign another old, formerly-elite, striker, and pay him a big salary for a shorter contract. Maybe Kane once he reaches 34 as well.

And that's exactly what I love to hear! See, the consequence of your statement is that there ought NOT to be any hate talk towards oldy Robert, in case FC Barcelona does not make it further in CL or La Liga...
Trust me...I do believe that the best move for Robert's legacy to remain unblemished is for him to leave this club ASAP and semi retire in MLS, where I could still watch him play.
Analogically, I remember all that stupid talk at Bayern forums, against Robben and Ribbery, when they turned Lewandowski's age...and, as a matter of Mother Nature, were not delivering as they had used to.

Completely and utterly disagree.
I want RL9 to stay in Europe, defy all the odds and be extremely valuable to Barcelona for a couple of years more.
I firmly believe that RL9 isn't an ordinary player who'll just decline into oblivion with age. I think he's an extremely special Footballer and one of the greatest athletes on the planet who can break norms by being a difference maker despite father time calling. If CR7 can play till 40, why can't RL9? Give me 1 valid reason.
He still has a few years left in him at the highest level. I want him to reach 700 career goals, 100 CL goals and 100 National Team goals. In RL9 I trust! 🐐

Oh...you know....let's face it, no magic is gonna happen with his prospective performance(s). We've seen already those other fading greats before, and I don't think he's that special to defy the biological laws.
FC Barcelona style of play is too technical and too fast for him and would have been even in his prime...I hate to say it but sometimes he just looks too clumsy, if not embarrassing, among this spanish/latino tunes of play...Career wise, after Bayern, he should have gone to Juve or, for that matter, your Liverpool where his physicality and poacher instincts would have been utilized to a much better efficiency....
Don't get me wrong...here, at Barca, he is still a valuable asset and worth his money, but they bought not exactly the tool they really had been in need for. It's like someone needs a modern jet plane but buys a state of the art yacht instead....
