Fernando Torres

I am by no means saying that Torres is the best player in the world but he is one of the best when fully fit.

Villa, I can say he is as good as or better than Torres.
Messi is better by far.
As much as I hate to say it, C. Ronaldo is better (especially when he was at Man Utd) if you don't put attitude into the picture. I guess that goes for Drogba too though, although attitude for me plays a huge part on whether or not I think you are a good player so I hate to put him and CR9 up here but I will for the sake of this post.
Rooney is up there but I wouldn't say better. Same with Milito.
And then of course Torres.

This group to me are the best strikers in the world, whether I personally like all of these players or not is another question. I'm not being biased just because I'm a Torres fan.

I wouldnt class Messi as a striker, My sig says it all about him.

In terms of Technical ability, Rooney is better than Torres, Not as fast but is much Stronger and is better in the air now. Torres is a better Finisher but not nearly as good in general play.
I rate Rooney, always have, and i rate him more than CR also.

Torres is undoubtedly a World Class player, But just not as good as the EPL have made him out to be.

And part of the reason why Torres is often not rated as high is because Liverpool quite frankly have sucked the past couple of years, especially this year.

so of course Man Utd or Chelsea's stars are going to be rated higher than the star of a lesser team.

No. You rate a player on ability, not their teams success. I rate rooney higher as hes been top class since he was what 18?
Plus the fact he is a fucking animal!

Torres is Brilliant, no doubt, But in thee EPL, he is 3rd or 4th best atm.

1.Rooney
2.Cesc
3.Drogba
4.Torres.

Rooney better than Torres? He may have more goals on paper this season but he also played several more matches than Torres even though both were injured.
Drogba? Ok, he may have scored more goals but he is also a diving wanker.
And Milito, he is great but he is also 30 going on 31, and probably will only be good for a couple more seasons imo.

Rooney and Drogba are both more complete forwards. They've a better all-round game (versatility, passing, vision) They contribute more to the team play. The African's hold up play is probs the best in the game. They do everything la niña does and better. The only thing he has over them is his off the ball movement and slightly better header.
Drogba is a diver, but so is Rooney and La niña. That dive against Inter couple of years ago that led to Materazzi's sending was more pathetic than any Drogba dive i've seen so far & when calls aren't going his way, he starts whinging which is just as annoying. He is just as bad as Drogba but the latter gets more slated for the same...

As for Milito, he has proven stats at every club he's played. First big club he moves to and he wins a treble. He has been a winner for them in every comp this season. Age is irrelevant when discussing quality of a player. Milito's hold up play, finishing and reading of the game is better than la niña.

On their day, i'd pick the Ivorian over all of them...

Personally I give Xavi a lot of credit for the final match but you can't say that the guy who scored the winning goal is forgettable.

No one is discrediting his goal. But without the aforementioned players, Spain would'nt 've even made it to the finals in the first place. Maria's post makes it seem like there was only one match played at the Euros which is y brought it up.

I didn't throw Cesc in my list because he's not labeled a striker but he is undoubtedly up there as well, although like you said players can often act as other positions like Messi.

Back to Torres though, his agent just said he is staying at Liverpool so if you count his words + Reina's, that kills all speculation about next season

Almost everyone has those types of moments but I think people like Drogba and CR do it much more.

I know age doesn't matter now, I was just saying that Torres still has many years left in him and can only get even better.

And ok, I understand your comment now, I actually thought you were just talking about the final at first which is what confused me... in that case I agree with you there

I figured what you meant, but I was just saying why I didn't put him in my list :)

Not this year, but I guess there is no other striker than Torres whom I'd like to see in two years wearing Barca shirt.

I think he's staying at least for this year. Why would Reina tell the press that he spoke with Torres and that he was staying? I wouldn't trust the agent 100% because often the agents speak for the players without talking to them first, but what reason has Reina to tell the press something he isn't positive about? They are next door neighbors so I'm sure they've talked about this and if Torres was going to tell anyone before actually telling his team, it would be Reina.

Hopefully he stays 2 or 3 more years at Liverpool and then opens up his options again, including Barca. Although we'll have to see what our team looks like then I guess.

There is a lot of talk about Liverpool going into Administration - maybe he's better off jumping ship to Barca ??

I don't think Barca is the best place for him though for now. Even if we got rid of Ibra we would still have too many strikers. That would mean substantially less playing time for Bojan and Pedro as I'm sure the starting lineup would always be Villa, Messi, and Torres.

At least Torres has cut his golden locks off. The bloke looked a f*cking state.

Zlatan has already said he won't leave, I don't know why people are still discussing it.
