Good to see people in here highlighting his flaws despite his two goals. His goals are nice to have but he will need a solid base of skills as a midfielder first and foremost.

Still clearly in development and for this season I'm just content with him regaining his fitness and keep adapting to senior football. Next season he will have to find his role in midfield and keep growing into that. For one he could use his big body more efficiently both in possession and in defence.

His passing is certainly not at the required level yet.. he has everything else .. at his age baskets was a master at passing already but maybe he was an anomaly too. Like I said.. with bernal its time to sell gavi and cassado to benifit financially and bet on new upcoming talents . I have seen enough of gavi and cassado.
Busi made his debut at 20 which is 1.5 year older than current Bernal. And tbf even Busquets was sloppy, giving the ball away a lot in the first months or so.

Let's hope his ceiling is high and he continues to improve. I like his instincts for goals but his passing and decision making still need alot of work.
He's clearly a Flick favourite so Gavi and Cassado really need to think about their futures here.

I guess it's a typo but Busi debuted at 20, he played in the WC-2010 final at 21 (and 11 months).

This is a season defining game for him. Performance was good and not as good as the two goals as most have suggested. But it's going to give him the confidence to grow and he will now have a mini run before Frenkie returns.

Was basically a mini Mikel Merino last night.

Nothing more is expected in this season after his ACL. With the pre-season, it starts to count for him. But in any case, these 2 goals will boost his confidence through the roof, which is also an important aspect for a young player.

I saw people writing him off after a couple of games and that he doesn't have what it takes. Way too early for those conclusions.

Only muppets, who never did serious sport and have no idea, how much a year long injury pause throws you back, talk like that.

Imagine if the kid read Barca forum what it would do for his mental health. He wouldn't be in the position to score those goals yesterday.

Massive potential, which has always been the case and will be the case for another two years even if his form drops off a cliff.

Flick has a great relationship with Gavi but he never really played him much when he was fit. I'm sure Bernal will stay ahead of him when he returns, Gavi won't play full matches this season (or ever?) anyway. Flick's really amazing with bench players who love him even if they barely play, I don't know how he does it, that's an aspect of managing a team that is underrated but very important with Flick.

He is better now than before his injury in those few games.

The issue is folk remembered a level he wasnt really.. amazing for his age but still long way to go.

Then he comes back and is better and folk make out over rated.

Top prospect and has the lot to be a Barca player for years.. but will take time

Players that big in midfield often take time to adjust. He has spoken about it and trying to change his mechanics.

Lol

People literally said the same thing about bernal a few months ago after coming back from the injury, a series of circumstances led to him having increasing minutes.

Not getting into a Gavi vs bernal thing, but people on here SMH

He played him as much as he was good enough to play.. possibly more in reality. Flick gave him decent enough minutes. Just clearly wasnt better than those starting.

Gavi v Bernal doesnt mean much anyway as not in same position.

It will be Frenkie/Bernal Pedri/Gavi most likely and if all fit and on form they can best each other to play more.

That is a very good situation to be in with the midfield.

It can change also if Yamal starts being centrally more and not so much of a AM/Second striker role.

Gavi if playing well enough gets more chances there possibly in way doesnt have to be impacted by Bernal all that much.

The one that will lose out is Casado most likely.
