Argentina

With the WC draw happening next week, I thought it would be fun to see the best group that Argentina will be in.

With this tournament being hosted in 3 countries and the size of country sizes are really huge, travelling and adjusting to 3 different time zones is a huge factor in how the team performs (not to mention the weather and other factors to consider too). Also considering the fact that Argentina will base its camp in Miami and the final will be in the East Coast, it's best for the team to be in the East Coast.

For this exercise, I want to see the best group that will give Argentina the highest chance to win the WC and this is assuming that Argentina will top their group. The host countries already have their groups assigned (Mexico - Group A, Canada - Group B and USA - Group D)

After analyzing everything, this is my preferred group from top to bottom with the top being the best group to be in and the bottom, the worst group to be in. I take much more consideration in the logistics for the Knock Out games

1. Group E - Probably the best group to be in imo as most of the KO matches are in the East Coast, more rest time between KO games (especially for the final) and the Semi final match is in Arlington which is not that far from Miami. Plus, 1 more day of rest for the WC Semi final and the final too (5 rest days in total)

2. Group F - Most of the KO matches are in the East Coast, more rest time (especially for the final) and the Semi final match is in Arlington which is not that far from Miami. Plus, 1 more day of rest for the WC Semi final and the final too (5 rest days in total). Only downside is that your opponent get 1 more day of rest in preparation for the round of 16 if both teams passes, but your opposition is in the West Coast for the round of 32.

3. Group I - Most of the KO matches are in the East Coast, more rest time (especially for the final) and the Semi final match is in Arlington which is not that far from Miami. Plus, 1 more day of rest for the WC Semi final and the final too (5 rest days in total). Only downside is that your opponent get 1 more day of rest in preparation for the round of 16 if both teams passes and you both are in the same time zone and near close proximity.

4. Group C - Most KO matches are close proximity to Miami and the QF match is in Miami. The only downside is that the team gets 1 less day of rest for the final (4 rest days in total)

5. Group J - Most KO match are close proximity to Miami, but the rest time between the KO matches are not that great compared to other groups. 1 less day of rest for the final (4 rest days in total)

6. Group L - Most KO match are close proximity to Miami, but the rest time between the KO matches are not that great. 1 less day of rest for the final (4 rest days in total). Plus, there is the ping pong travel from USA -> Mexico -> USA during the KO match.

7. Group G - All KO games, except for the final, are in the West Coast. The only good thing about this is that you are within the same time zone and you get to face the winner in group D which is where USA is pot 1. Plus, 1 more day of rest for the WC final (5 rest days in total)

8. Group H - There's a lot of ping pong travel during the KO matches from West Coast -> Central -> West Coast -> Central -> East, which messes up the time zone. Only benefit is 1 more day of rest for the WC final (5 rest days in total)

9. Group K - There's a lot of ping pong travel during the KO matches that involves multiple time zone differences and you have to go from Kansas (round of 32) -> Vancouver -> Kansas -> Atlanta. Rest time between the KO matches are not that great compared to other groups and 1 less day of rest for the final (4 rest days in total).

Summary/TLDR
Best Group imo - Group E, Group F, Group I
Average - Group C, Group J, Group L and Group G
Avoid at all cost - Group H and Group K

If you are a top 8 team, generally you don't really care who are the teams in your group as most of the time, you will get out the group. It's seeing the group next to you that you should be more wary of as that's when the knockout game starts.

Say that to EURO2021 group, Germany + France - it will make you tired for the knockout stage:/
