We can compare Villarreal to the EPL and say they are well off the level.

But for Atleti no excuses.

Worlds highest paid manager and spent like an EPL side the past two summers.

Zero excuses for them.
Atletico is a manager problem for sure. Gone very stale under Simeone. Both Liverpool and Arsenal would probably call them their easiest game so far which is crazy considering how water tight a Simeone team used to be.

Rest of the league has been gutted and playing by rules that no one else is and is quite frankly just left behind as a result.

Amazing really as I’m certain in the late 00’s, early 10’s it was the strongest league.

Spent like Liverpool and Arsenal?

Well. Yes. Sort of.

Liverpool spent excessively if we ignore sales for the sake of the argument. And had to buy for a deceased player.

Arsenal spent 400m over two seasons and Atleti 360m.

If you count the Hincapie buy option for next season, while currently being on loan then 440m.

So 360m is more than enough not to be embarrassed.

Mind you, half a billion of Liverpool is also more than enough not to be embarrassed for 4 games in a row too.

Yet Real looked terrible vs Atletico, basically Barca and Real both suck? Interesting weekend coming up. I am totally lost who is good and who is not.
Teams are poor across the board.

PSG and Man City are the only teams who look good (by good I mean best in the world level) to me. They also have the two strongest squads, and two best coaches, in my opinion.

Edit: forgot Bayern too, though you never can tell with them with how they dominate BL.

Pep is changing his skin to turn City into a transition team to suit Fraudling Haaland

Reijnders, Doku, Savino, Haaly are great for a transition team.
Not so much all the rest (Foden, Gundo, Bernardo, Cherki, and basically all their defenders)
