21 - Frenkie de Jong

You're welcome
You know ball. But Pedri still needs great number of touches in that position.
Pedri plays better when deeper than higher up. But it’s the best solution for having an Olmo that is compromising the mf. Olmo will less of a danger when Raphinha is back.

My preferred solution would be letting Fermin play more even though he is inferior in keeping possession than Olmo. But Olmo just too poor at this point. But Fermin injured.

I want to see more defensively from him. He is great on the ball and in the phases of progression but he lacks a lot of defensive toughness. It would be harder to bypass our midfield if he was stronger in marking and tackling.

This! My single biggest issue with him as a DM.

If your not rodri and busquets as DM, which he isn't, then you need to make up the difference with defensive effort.

Pedri plays best when he can have great number of touches, doesn't matter deeper or higher.

If he plays in Olmo's position, Flick must make sure he is a creative midfielder who pushes forward.

Defending has never been a big part of his game and might be the reason we get overrun in midfield at times. He just doesn't have it in him to break up play and win duels.

De Jong on fire! He is not happy with the Villareal game played in Lionel's city:

“I don’t like that we’re playing there; I don’t agree with it. It’s not good for the players. You have to travel a lot, and in terms of competition, that’s not fair. For us, it’s an away game on neutral ground. But I don’t feel like anyone is listening to us,” said Barça’s vice-captain openly and honestly.

The 28-year-old continued: “It serves the clubs to make their brand more well-known worldwide. That’s probably what it’s about. I can understand the clubs — they will benefit from it. But I wouldn’t have made that decision myself. I don’t agree with it. I understand that other teams don’t agree either.”

Of course not. You can't move things alone. You want something done, gather enough people to give your opinion weight. That's the only possible way to be heard. Look how fast PL fans buried the Superleague by protesting and blocking their stadiums for just a few days.

Bernal and Pedri at pivot DM spots, Ferran in front, Raphinha LW, Rashford in top, Lamine RW with the three up front in free roles and even Raphinha moving to the AM spot occasionally.

Could be great or could be a disaster.
