Truth. Didn't even Martinez himself say he felt like it was good time to leave? In a sense, who knows how long he could have kept playing at high level?

We needed new players. Potential world class players. Martinez itself wouldn't fix anything.

That's fine if he wants to leave. Work out an agreement and get a transfer fee for him and then use that to fund a transfer.

I mean look at this list - in what world could we not have gotten a transfer fee for Barca's starting and best CBs?

Idiots lol.

I am getting a little concerned that he's not able to motivate this squad anymore. The 2nd half display was shockingly uninspired with no real fight from our players. Flick is too good of a manager to not see things like this. Not a question if he was outclassed or outcoached, more of a question if this squad has it in them mentally to give it their all like last season

Eric in post match interview said they eased the pressing after PSG equalized

If it really is true then what is that nonsense? Last season the mentality was ease the pressing is only acceptable when we have the win in our pocket. And that should not change

I definitely saw they would win the ball and then play it back a lot. Almost as if they are scared. The mental aspect I think played a part. This again is why I think missing Raphinha was a great loss. Guy is the heart and engine of entire team, lifts the spirit and bites without fear.

Ferran and Rashford look motivated.

Lewy and Lamine don't.

Barca really missing Inigo too imo.

Raphinha's season was possibly once in a lifetime in terms of output.

Lots of factors at play here.

Outcoached clearly but when you face a team with the likes of Martin/Kounde against Hakimi/Mendes what do you expect?!

Especially when 60m players don’t pull up their weight and some players think they’ve already made it at 18.

The only thing that I hate is still the high line at 1-1 in the dying minutes. Stop fucking doing it, it’s infuriating when you are on the ropes to boot.

He didn't say it, but Barca was completely gassed after 30-35min in the first half. They couldn't keep up anymore with PSG.

Flick probably saw this and knew he had very few options from the bench, so basically Flick had to change tactics and tune down the pressing, because they would have been completely out of gas after the first ten minutes of the second half. PSG would have rolled over us in the last thirty five minutes by few goals margin.

Flick had to change approach, because his team couldn't press anymore. He had no other choice.

Remember the talks from last season, he said he wants his team to press 90 minutes. What happened to that mentality? We are happy to sit back these days? We need to aim for that same mentality. Press ninety, otherwise this team won't win against top competition.

This team isn't physically as good as they were last season. Look at the difference to PsG. It's a massive one.

The defensive shape for their 2nd goal was laughable.

If true, then that's fkn embarrassing. What are these players not doing that the likes of Liverpool, Man City, PSG players do?

Everybody and their mama knows Christensen and Araujo should be the starting CBs.
IDGAF if he cant pass the ball.
IDGAF about INIGO either. He had 2-3 blunders in him every big game.

Having said that, LUCHO one of the GOATs. There was never in doubt he was gonna cook.
But we move,
Chelsea is must win now.

The goat, with get another goated post.

I get the feeling flick will settle on araujo Christensen this season

He's stalled Cubarsi's development, at least those two already know how to defend

It's true. Look at start of the second half. We barely pressed them and let them have the ball. We know Flick LOVES to press and pressure the opponent.. There's only one reason why he wouldn't press the opponent, if he knew we couldn't do it anymore without killing ourselves for rest of the game.

36% possession in the second half. That's not a team trying to win the possession back.

Thanks for Khaled for posting this stat

Also I’m not saying this PSG team is as good as 16-17 RM or 14-15 Barca.

Just that the gap between 1st to 2nd is similar magnitude.

Which is why we need to avoid PSG KO stages.
They need to face:
ATLETICO
BAYERN
ARSENAL

They can hustle hard to beat those bums

They will easily handle
BARCA/ RM/ LIVERPOOL

We can handle any team not named PSG with a lil bit of luck like last season.
Need that CL this seaosn.

Don't think it's motivation tbh. As much as I dislike Psg they have a bit more quality and depth than us. I'd take Mendes and Hakimi any day over Martin and Kounde even though Jules js a class player. We got beat because we gave them too much space and you don't give a team like that so much space to exploit. Ideally game should have ended 1-1 with us keeping it tight and seeing out the game instead of marauding forward like madmen looking for the winner. Flick needs to adjust more in game based on the situation.
