You can't drop Torres with the form he's in, but lewa gives you the presence of a proper # 9.

Will see how It shakes out by the end of the season, but I have my suspicions

From outside perspective yes,

but on a personal level he might have had the mission to help barca to cl victory.

But I think with 3/4 la liga wins he can still consider it an outstanding accomplishment.

I am not sure if he ever even signs with Barca if he knew all the financial trouble we were going to have. I think if he looks back now, this has been massive success with all the trouble.

He seems to score everytime he gets subbed in and when he actually starts he is more invisible. Therefore I'm fine with letting Ferran start more this season and giving Lewa these last 30+ minutes of the game.

Lewandowski: "At the end of the pre-season, I was injured, and that's why, at the beginning, it was a bit tougher for me, and so I needed a little more time to regain my rhythm. I have patience, I'm not in a rush. The season is very long, we have a lot of matches. And for me, the most important thing is that when I play, I always want to do what I love and what I want to do: score goals and help my team in the end."

Important goal. Like I said before, his role will be better suited as a sub at this point. It's better for him and for the team, as he can be preserved for the more important games with injury being less likely.

True, this can also confuse defenders, who become accustomed to certain patterns throughout the game.

But I think it has more to do with the way Barca are using him and against teams with tighter defenses so far, he's been doubled marked out of the game.

While this did create space and chances for other players, him operating as a classic 9 high up the pitch, I think in those situations, Barca need to do something different, and allow him to get more involved in the game to drop deeper, similar to how he's more involved at the national team. This allows him to move up and follow through with the attack more unpredictably.

I hear a lot of comments calling him a "pole". But I feel this is misguided. He's a "pole" because that's the role Hansi Flick has set him in, high up the pitch, wait for the ball etc.... This isn't always the right strategy.
