A tiny reason could be, that La-Masia is the foundation and identification of Barca, as well as a goal and dream for all Masia kids to make it into the first team. But right, why should we keep all of it, if the club can make a few bucks with them according to some internet fans, who don't care about anything but other people's money.
And who cares about telling Masia kids they're assets for the club to make money. They will understand.
Let's be realistic here, club sold its soul already. Only thing missing is a billionaire buying it. There is nothing to differentiate current FC Barcelona from other clubs.

Chelsea, Madrid, PSG have top academies of their own. Players get sold all the time. You could argue there is still the Catalan identity to hold on to, but fans outside of Catalunia don't give a rats ass about that.

La Masia is a chance to make it in football, not a sure path to Barca's squad. Just as some choose to make money quicker or get into the first 11 of other clubs by leaving before they even try to make it here.

Our depth chart::

GK position, assuming Garcia keeps his form, is fantastic. And we have 3 GK who are loaned out while Kochen will be learning the craft with Barca B, if things stays on course we might be set for the next few years.

Defense is where questions have to be asked: We lack an elite CB, we lack height and only Balde and Araujo are athletic. Backup LB are questionable at best while backup RB is another shiftmake CB. We can get by if our pressing is on point and Garcia keep saving our ass, but it won't be one of our strengths.

Midfield seems overcrowded tbh, with talents emerging from La Masia, sales will be inevitable.

Attack depth has improved with Rashford replacing Fati * Pau Victor, but it still lacks quality game changer outside of the 4 we had last year.

We probably improved our squad, but other teams has improved even more than we did. Real will be different team than last year, addressing some of their most pressing needs, on CL level Liverpool, Arsenal & Chelsea are much better teams (on paper at least) than last year, Bayern & City closed the gap a bit but not so much. Inter will fall though.

Next year it will seen that both defense and attack will need reinforcement.

I think @Andresito is right, the club will likely prioritize attack over defense. Although if financial restraints continue, the market might decide for them as we are unlikely to be able to get a star signing for LW or CF (either will cost at least 70M to get someone who may starts)

Trouble with trying to sign players for free who are that sought after will be trying to get them to trust Barca when make an offer and say they will be registered.

Wouldnt go for Guehi though due to his height.

In a team that lacks height when the top teams are getting taller and more powerful need to address that more than with 6ft CB.

Cant have games like Inter at home that concede 2 corners and they score from both of them when dominate them from box to box other than that.

Would be smart to lock in a defender on a free to go all in on a striker.

Of those names upamecano I've never rated.
Konate is overrated
Guehi I think Is left footed which is good, but a bit undersized, he'll almost certainly end up at Liverpool.

But given the fact that they are ",free" I would take anyone.

Maybe sign a RB and move kounde back to CB, that's always an option.

Bastoni is the obvious one if can afford him and wants the move as he has the height, ability on ball and left sided.

Much easier to get a player from Inter than EPL also surely.

For example lets say Barca get offered 80m for Kounde and selling him allows for a cheaper RB like Ratui and Bastoni would club do it?

Not even sure they would. They seem immune to selling certain players.

The board seem shit scared of selling players incase it makes them look like need to for FFP and it goes down badly with the support.

He is right footed.

Jamdav has a good point about registration, many of those will be sought after by other big clubs without registration issues, this will make it difficult to recruit them.

In an imaginary world where we have funds to sign a top CB, I would say Saliba (contract ends in 2027) is the absolute ideal option.
Tad bit overrated, and mistake prone, but worth it.
Never happening though

Why always looking on club perspective? Kounde is our best defender in my opinion and has just signed a new contract for many years with good but not overpaid money.
You really think he wants to leave the club and city to move for example to an epl club? To live in a country with a much lower quality of life, at least if you have money? Trading the beach in Barcelona, Ibiza, or elsewhere in Spain for the beach in Brighton, bad weather, and no mountains. He is not one of these low level wage player like fermin who could earn 2-4x what he earns here

Oh okay, it makes him less attractive then, with him being undersized.

The registration issues will indeed leave some being hesitant to join, can't deny that, but I don't think it's a massive issue for most, when we've never failed to register anyone.

But it's definitely not ideal to pre sign free players.

Kounde for me is over rated and not better than likes of Cubarsi but he would also be the one to get a decent fee on.

Too hit or miss. Can look world class on ball to an amateur the next and not great left 1v1. Leaves far too much room for teams to get the ball into box on his side.

Also part of it would be if offered a big fee for him.

Their is only a handful of players we should never sell, kounde as much as I like him isn't one of them.

But I doubt he's leaving unless some how Garcia pushes him from the RB slot and even then I think he would push araujo from the CB spot

Never failed to register due to injuries and players leaving for free.

Nico was 100% correct. Barca could not have registered him with the way market went and club most likely knew that was likely to be the case.
