Some spin it like this or that but everyone outside Barca bubble is amused or surprised at this clause.

Shame Barca don't hire professionals to run business side of things instead hiring friends, family, former players to learn on the job.

I don't have any problem with that clause tbf. He's 34, joined on a free and leaves on a free.

I'm sure he wouldn't leave if we could register other players though. And getting 2 or 3m fee wouldn't change much anyway.

Iñigo Martínez managed the Al Nassr negotiations in absolute silence, from the first call when Barça were still in Japan until he agreed on the conditions with the Saudi club. While his teammates slept at night, he negotiated with the help of a trusted representative, José Tudela. No one of Barça knew anything until the plane returned to Barcelona. The first to find out about were Dani Olmo and Hansi Flick. They heard it mid-flight. @xavi__hdez

Not sure if true. Flick was testing Martini at LCB early on though.

People making out as if the guy wasn't mediocre at best all his life. Had his best season in a big club and cashed in on the Saudi offer.

We're crying as if he was prime Nesta. Club should have signed a top CB regardless of him staying or leaving. We have no world class CB at the moment.

Agreed. Central defense is the only major compartment where we don't have a single top player. Everyone gushes over Cubarsi and Inigo, but the starting pair for Spain was Le Normand and Huijsen.

Anyone downplaying Inigo leaving seems to have missed all the players and staff comments on his importance on and off the pitch, throughout last season.
On top of being best defensive performer in the team.

Flick is surely pissed at this turn of events on top of not knowing if he can count on Rash and Garcia, 4 days before first official match.

He was the top CB last season. But are we banking on him repeating that at his age and with his previous performances in mind?

Flick would be right to be pissed off. Woeful recruitment this summer. Bar the GK position of course.

As per usual we went for the easy marks, with no scouting whatsoever. And we'll probably have people in here saying "who would you have bought?" when I don't make fucking millions like Deco does.

There are some positions where you need to do this. Others where the best approach is to discover new emerging players. We needed a player with experience for our attack.

I have my eyes on CB area where I want the club to find some really good options when we will have the funds.
