Let's be honest, if Ronaldo had done this, I'd be piling in on him and slagging him rotten. Fair is fair with Messi. So the same has to be said of the 'amigos' (if that is true). The other players' salaries shouldn't have been increased.
That is very bad by Messi and them.

Bad look on the rest, not Leo, IMO. Like he said, he generated more revenue than he earned, and that’s without even mentioning his performances. He was the only reason to even bother watching us play during those bad years. The two-faced scumbag, Pique, is the one who really should hang his head in shame. Can’t believe people were hailing him as some future president and savior figure back then.

Admittedly I am nowhere near as informed on this matter as the actual Barca fans on here.
But my impression is that Messi argued for the others to have an increase in salary because they were his friends. Is that true? If it is then you would have to say he is complicit. Sure that quote above is correct - he more than earned his own salary and brought so much revenue to the club. But did he have to argue for better salary for his friends and then not helping the club after COVID?
Like I say, I didn't read much about it at the time, so correct me if I got some wrong here.

He didn’t have to, but probably felt pressured into doing so. His «friends» taking advantage of his status and personality. As great as he is, both as a player and person, he strikes me as someone who is bad at setting boundaries and telling people «no». Doesn’t want to let anyone down, especially loved ones and close friends. A trait that can, sadly, easily be exploited if you have the wrong people in your inner circle, which is clear, he had plenty of through the years.

Yeah that is a good point. He is shy and retiring it seems.
At the same time though, I don't think he's a very naive, innocent little wallflower either. He can still be strong in his views and know when what he is doing might be wrong. He doesn't strike me as stupid. Maybe easily bowing to peer pressure, as you say.
I'd say it's somewhere in the middle between 'Messi is a dictator' and 'Messi is entirely innocent'.

Thats like in corporate bussiness. Idiots who were in charge in those years floped and let their ass get spanked by players, agents. If club stood still, messi would get his fair share of paycheck and others should have been offered whatever was the limit or fuck off. In the end, those salaries were the reason why in the end we couldnt renew his contract, so shame on him in the end.
