Exactly. We might as well sign Usain Bolt or David Goggins while we're at it. I'm sure Barca will dominate Europe then.He doesn't run around aimlessly like a blue arsed fly though, so apparently wouldn't make it in Europe. Never mind passing, dribbling finishing when you can 'work hard and press' (yawn). Be better off with Mason Mount, he will run the hard yards.
To be fair, Walton Goggins would probably make more impact than Mount in the Barca team.Exactly. We might as well sign Usain Bolt or David Goggins while we're at it. I'm sure Barca will dominate Europe then.
Yamal going in his footstepsMan can't even score a hattrick. Washed
Let's be honest, if Ronaldo had done this, I'd be piling in on him and slagging him rotten. Fair is fair with Messi. So the same has to be said of the 'amigos' (if that is true). The other players' salaries shouldn't have been increased.Emili Rousaud (former board member under Bartomeu): "The problem at Barça was that they had the best player in the world, and he was the only one who covered his salary through the revenue he generated for the club. It was impossible to question his salary, because he simply deserved it."
"But there was pressure from Leo's entourage, from Jordi Alba, Piqué and Busquets, and salaries had to be raised for everyone under pressure on the president."
"This way, Leo's needs were met, and it led to an unreasonable wage inflation. Not because Piqué wasn't a good defender, but because he was the best defender in the world and the highest-paid."
"But the model was working. Every company needs a certain level of fairness in salaries, but that balance was broken, then the pandemic hit and revenues collapsed sharply."
"The players did not want to lower their salaries. That made me feel a bit ashamed as a biscuit, not as a director. They didn’t give up a single euro."
Shame on you Messi
Admittedly I am nowhere near as informed on this matter as the actual Barca fans on here.Bad look on the rest, not Leo, IMO. Like he said, he generated more revenue than he earned, and that’s without even mentioning his performances. He was the only reason to even bother watching us play during those bad years. The two-faced scumbag, Pique, is the one who really should hang his head in shame. Can’t believe people were hailing him as some future president and savior figure back then.
He didn’t have to, but probably felt pressured into doing so. His «friends» taking advantage of his status and personality. As great as he is, both as a player and person, he strikes me as someone who is bad at setting boundaries and telling people «no». Doesn’t want to let anyone down, especially loved ones and close friends. A trait that can, sadly, easily be exploited if you have the wrong people in your inner circle, which is clear, he had plenty of through the years.Admittedly I am nowhere near as informed on this matter as the actual Barca fans on here.
But my impression is that Messi argued for the others to have an increase in salary because they were his friends. Is that true? If it is then you would have to say he is complicit. Sure that quote above is correct - he more than earned his own salary and brought so much revenue to the club. But did he have to argue for better salary for his friends and then not helping the club after COVID?
Like I say, I didn't read much about it at the time, so correct me if I got some wrong here.
Yeah that is a good point. He is shy and retiring it seems. He didn’t have to, but probably felt pressured into doing so. His «friends» taking advantage of his status and personality.
