This attack is pure fire!
Whoever does not admit it is not honest with themselves
The thing is, we heard all this when they signed guys like Sterling (who I said would flop), Nkunku and Mudryk.
Some of those players are good (I rate Palmer, Pedro, Estevao and Neto) but others are more hyped up names who will likely do very little. It's easy just to talk about names and say how great a team's attack is before they even play together or have a chance to try to gel, or even perform on the pitch.
Other than hype off the park I don't really know why we should rate guys like Jackson, Delap, Nkunku, Madueke and Gittens. I have watched them all play and they seem like very run of the mill attackers who are hyped up due to social media and FIFA like so many young players are in today's game. The substance and performances rarely match the hype.
It's like people hyping Hojlund, Zirkzee, Mount, Ugarte, De Ligt etc when they went to Man United - people saying they 'won the various transfer windows' - but when they actually had to perform on the pitch they achieved very little. As I predicted.
I feel a lot of players are hyped as a 'name' or a 'superstar' these days without actually being that good, due to social media and players being bigger celebrities than they were in the past. And that's how I feel about Delap, Jackson et al. It's all opinions but mine is no way do these guys help Chelsea get closer to Liverpool and Man City - and with the fortunes they spend that should be the target.
Throw in how much of a basket case that club is, and it's easy to see these names failing or not producing.
Too many fans think signing players or big names is automatically a success. But quite often those players don't actually produce when they have to get down to the nitty gritty of performing on the pitch. Making a signing is actually the relatively easy part. Extracting performances from that player that match the hype is the hard part.
Feels like you're just looking at a bunch of hyped up names and rating them as great by default without REALLY considering if they are that good.
This is my take on it anyway. Maybe I am just older and cynical.
