What should the club prioritize

We have been linked with several fullbacks tbf, especially before the Nico Williams news popping up.

Now it is said that main target is Rashford, likely on loan, I think we will look at backline.

At least, this is my hope.

It doesn't make sense to me. I hope this is the case, but the way we approach it gives me an indication that backline is not a high enough priority.

Rashford deal isn't gonna be done on good terms for us unless very late in the window.

My guess is the board and Deco are just listening to Flick. And Flick is not reliable when it comes to improving the defense. That call has to be made by the board and Deco.

I understand a market opportunity to take Nico. Have to go for it. But now it's over, and the other options are not interesting enough to ignore the defense for those players. Simple as that for me.

Well, tbh Garcia deal is what makes me hopeful. But the cause for concern is bigger in our defense. I'm really not sure why likes of Cubarsi and Inigo are rated so highly when they both were a complete mess late in the season.

The goal keeper, like Nico was just a good market opportunity.

For those prices, if the player shows interest, you make the move.

Now I have no idea how good Garcia is, but he had a lot of hype this summer.

Deco even though he talks too much as I suspected with the Nico deal and said as much

He's also literally came out and said what his objectives are.

A LW because we lack depth once yamal or raphinha is off, and that's it.

Anything else will depend on a sale, NO CB unless one leaves, which is the right thing to do

Probably no back up LB, which is the wrong thing to do, but I suspect we will get one.

GK
LW
LB would be my guess estimate

Also, in regards to attack, IIRC Torres wasn't used as much in the first half of the season last year. Next season, I think he'll be a main player for us. He's an option also as 2nd striker in a similar role to Raphinha, while also playing Lewandowski.

We have some options in attack, and some other options that weren't explored last season but they can be explored this time around.

How many games did Torres play with Lewa at the same time? There's more things we can try to try and limit the minutes of Raphinha.

No CB except if one leaves is a bad idea for me. Considering your starting CBs looked like bums last season in the bigger games. You signed a keeper while having 3 because neither filled you with much joy. Same should be done at CB. Sign a good one who doesn't shit the bed under pressure, and push 1-2 out.

Considering Nico deal is out, best thing we should do is CB + LB (or RB + LB) + cheaper loan for back-up LW. Something like Felix in 2023. If nothing works out for LW back-up... I'd be fine with only 3 good defensive signings this summer including Garcia.

The club's approach seems to be all in for attack. Which is crazy for me after a season in which we had the best attack in Europe and the defense was shite.

Arsenal is having a pretty good summer. 6 days in and they have only one positon to fill in now, which looks highly likely to be done when the CWC is finished.

Really we signed a goal keeper because it was a great market opportunity.

They see something in Garcia and for 25M had to go for it.

If he costed 35+, we would still have Mats and Tek.

Won't get into CBs and the inter game, done that debate enough, but there is a reason why Milan kept a clean sheet against them while scoring 3 and it's not the individual quality of the defenders.

If they saw another good opportunity at CB they might move, if not it's a matter of if someone comes in for araujo or Christensen and even then they might not use the cash to by a CB, not that many good CBs out there and we aren't PSG where we can sign 3 CB before finally finding one that works.

They probably have a list of CB now and are trying to make sure they get the right one, more time to make the decision the better, so next summer.

Or they'll just promote

Performances of the defenders are tied to the managerial approach, I agree. But this makes it even more recommended that you upgrade your quality in this area.

In short, the riskier and more offensive you play, the worse the defenders are gonna perform, the more you need individual quality to mittigate that. There's nothing worse than mediocre defenders subjected to huge pressure.

Btw, neither of Cubarsi and Inigo start for Spain. Le Normand is preferred to both.

Balde doesn't even make the squad and he's widely considered a top 3 LB in the world last season.

Spanish coach is weird, bless his heart.

Cubarsi>Dean

Who is getting a bit overrated, how many goals have Spain conceded since he's been a starter, he gets away with a average games with a few good moments.

Mainly starts over Cubarsi because of size.

Martinez shouldn't be playing for Spain, his window passed.

Seems like they need to sell someone to be able to do something in the market. If we are being honest, the biggest surplus is in the AM position with olmo gavi and fermin. I do not think Deco has the balls to sell Gavi.

Nah, it's more down to the quality of our defenders, who is nothing like the quality of our midfielders and attackers. Defense needs upgrades. If we spend the little money we have poorly... we will pay the price next season.

There's no indication Inigo Martinez for example is gonna have a better season this time around. In fact, it's more likely he will play worse.

Why they don't start?

You know only 2 Barca players start for Spain right now right.

Pedri best Midfielder in the world
Yamal best player in the world.

That's the level Barca players have to be to start for Spain under RDF.

So you're saying our CBs don't start because they aren't the best in the world?.

Because certainly you don't believe Normand is better than Cubarsi?

And balde is what average based off last season?
