It's not about that. It's about suddenly playing the victim when we were a notoriously big spender for the past 30 years.
Yeah, I agree with your point about the last 30 years. But this is all in the past and hopefully in the future we can spend big again based on revenue. 2020s Barca are a club balancing the tides. I don't think Barca are playing the victim role, it's clear as a day we're not competitive on the market even now. Messi's presence was I dare say 80% of players' desire to join Barca.

Not the club per se, was talking about the fans. We hit a rough patch financially but I have no doubts we'll spend big again once finances are sorted.

Many more factors than Messi. Great city to live in for a millionaire footballer - actually the best in Europe. Huge club, crazy money, the full package if you ask me.

I meant attracted a lot of players we had on our radar and didn't appreaciate the club. To give an example - Dembele.
Really not sure what you mean. Dembele was a maladjusted idiot, tough to draw conclusions even if true (not sure)

Barca in form is the most attractive club in the world, very few players out there who wouldn't want to join (reasonable exceptions excluded)

Right now, attracting is not an issue, buying and registering on the hand...

No. It's money made by achieving great football legacy vs money paid to buy it.

@malvolio is not wrong tbf. Milan is viewed as 'old money' because they got Silvio Berlusconi as their sugar daddy in 1980s. Same goes for Moratti at Inter, Agnelli at Juventus etc. Their immense football legacy were built on spending tons of money.

No different than what Abramovich did for Chelsea.

Soon, it will be Dembele if PSG wins the UCL Final

Nah it's more of a no money thing. Ideally you have a centralized salary cap and teams play for sporting merits.

Obviously impossible to implement in European football. And certainly more so now the Saudi league has arrived... Until 2035 or so.

Only 6 years Contract? Only 1 Billion buy out clause? What are these people doing, 17 year old kid must be signed for 15 years or at least 10 and 1 Billion is not enough to chase away these Oiler$!

Not sure if you're being sarcastic, but I definitely agree. Inflation is increasing worldwide, so 1 Billion won't be an unrealistic amount of money in a few years' time. If he stays healthy and keeps progressing, I could see a club easily triggering that buy out clause by the time he's 22.

Look up what Inter and Milan did in the 50s and 60s. They're historic football institutions.

They're located in a rich area of Europe. Same as with Juve. Same as with Bayern. Money and people that have it always been around those clubs.
Paris is the anomaly but that's mainly because people weren't that passionate about football in that area, like they are in Marseille.

Well yes, there's a reason all the big clubs are in cultural/economic powerhouses of Europe.

I'm not saying these clubs weren't financially advantaged (all the historic clubs were at one point) - PSG and City to me have taken it up another gear. But it is what it is.
