I agree that we really missed our two starting full-backs. This was one of the main reasons for our exit, since we could only replace them with average substitutes — though Garcia is actually pretty decent.

Just imagine how the tie would have gone if either Rapha or Lamine had been injured. Or both of them!

We wouldn't have got past Benfica. So, I think a versatile winger with starter potential should be a high priority this summer. There will be enough playing time for three wingers to share.
Our fire power upfront is also directly responsible for our defensive woes, we wouldnt attack that openly without one of them. It would put more pressure on fb's but we would be more compact. We might go out against benfica, or dortmund, or inter, but sure as hell we wouldnt concede 12 goals in 4 matches.

For me, fb's and st should be priority.
Without fb's this flick system is exposed a lot, without a beast striker we would not unlock our full potential upfront.

If we cant get top target st this summer, fine.
Versatile winger that can play on wing, st also good but at what cost.
We should absolutely first assemble gala XI, or sort of. After that, my opinion is getting reinforcments that should be quality backups/rotational players.
@draconifire mentioned rashford on loan, that would be dope. Transfers like that on loan on those positions that needs 'bodies' should be way to go

Well, GG bois, we had a good run.
Can I contact Tebas to keep us from this 1:1 rule? Only financial ruin can save this club.

No matter who comes in, we just like to shoot ourselves in the foot.

Relax.

We're not even in June. A few days ago it was reported we were not going after Luis Diaz. Now it's suddenly being reported we are.

No one knows anything.

I know I know.
Maybe a bit overreacting. But so much chatter, I just can't.

Yeah we all do tbf
As for any Barca transfer news this summer then I'm going to wait for Gerard Romero to report it and for the best reporter of the team we're buying from also reporting it. For Liverpool that would be Paul Joyce.

So far there's nothing.

Our reporters cannot even agree on whether we'll sign a GK or not.

There are almost no leaks since Deco took over and Jordi left the club.

Which is scary

because who’s gonna come up with Diaz for 85 rumor?!

That’s diabolical. Has Barca sporting department written all over it.

I’m just jesting. I hope.

We have both Lewa and Torres who are both starting caliber strikers atm, when healthy, the team played great with either.

The reason for a winger was explained by Deco, we are Raphinha and Lamine dependent. The moment you lose one or both we are putting a 3rd division level player like Fati or Pau Victor.

The idea is to relief those two and have another sub option on the wings.

Look at Valladolid game, they are a team that didn't have a win but we looked as toothless as it gets with our attack and had to put Raph and Lamine to get the win

This is true. Quality goes down way too much when Raphinha or Yamal out.

It's 100% need but I am not sure Diaz is the guy.

Its true. But the problem IMO is that the player playing in LW is not Laliga level.
Raphinha and Yamal will play atleast 70% of the matches. And thats how it works.
What we need is a player that fills out the rest 20-30%. We dont need a world beater. Needs to be cheap.
Or a player that brings a different tactical approch when he is on the field, or can play different areas of the field.

Thats the reason why I am for Lookman (fills in the LW and ST role better, I beilive come March he will be essential), Rashford (if on loan, gives us muscle up front, gives us verticality, can play any of the three positions, cheap), Puado (cheap, can easily play agaisnt anyof the team lower than 7)
Diaz just doesnt give anything new than these three.

Both Diaz and Nico brings more dynamism to the team, both are hardworking fast wingers who can break defense.

I think the idea here is more about those being creators rather than finishers. Puedo is a bit like Ferran, he is more of a second striker rather than a true winger. Lookman is good at exploiting space too. Diaz and Nico are far more comfortable with the ball at their feet.

PS: I am not arguing whether that is right or wrong approach, rather than analysing what they have in mind.

I dont know man.
Nico yes, brings a different playstyle to us. But Diaz is more or less similar to Raphinha. A bit better dribbler, but less of that scorer instinct.

Would rather have Nico for 70m than Diaz for anything close to 50.

Diaz is far more comparable to Nico than anyone else. The comparison between two players rarely get closer than this.

Diaz had a cracking start to the season when Slotball was at its peak.

For reference Liverpool fans and tempt also, was saying at that point he was better than Raphi.

If we get that version we have a great ready squad addition for the next season or two.

If we get the version of the second half the season, not so much.

Hopefully the recently helps our negotiations and we get him for 30-40m if we do indeed get him.

Ahh. From the matches Ive seen of him, he didnt really strike me so, like as a pure old school winger. Like Nico.

Maybe I am wrong.
