100%. And It's not just this game, with that frame he should be winning headers, instead he closes his eyes and jumps like a pussy
😆 🤣.... so he should become a plastic man and will all headers across every inch of the box, right?
Even prime Ramos was not winning headers all the time. Madrid still got dunked in many corners and set peices with Ramos, Pepe,Varane and all those other "aerial monsters"

Sorry to ask this bro, did you actually watch the replay of that goal before typing this?
Did you see who lost Dumfries for the free header or you had this typed well ahed of the match?

Footage and analysis per ESPN Soccer TV this morning and match reports by Sportmole showed Olmo was marking Dumfries and lost him for the goal. The video footage also showed Olmo cursing for losing his target forbthe corner. How was Arsujo meant to mark all the players in the box because he is tall?

I like Araujo as a player but dont shy away from rapping him out when he messes up. In this case, he was not at fault for the goal. You can look for any other area where he did not domwell but for that goal, naah!!

Common man!!!!

Araujo was in the the zone the ball was played in, he even went for it but misjudged it. He is for sure to blame. Olmo is to blame also, but at least he was at a physical disadvantage and he got beat physically. The clownery of Araujo... harder to forgive that. Guy is supposed to be a beast in the air. That's the only thing people expect of him in this team and can't even get that done.

Wish we had someone like Van Dijk in defense. Then all of these discussions about our defense being shite would almost vanish. Fecking Bartomeu...
😆 🤣 😂.... problem with so many comments and wishes for other players here is that most hardly watch these players beyond highlights and reviews from headlines.

Did you see same Van Dijk against Fulham and Nottingham Forest recently? This page would have been buent to ashes If Araujo had half of such a perfomance,

Maybe look at the image above and tell me who is Araujo marking?

He does zonal defense. His role there is to take on whoever appears in the zone. Regardless if that player is already in man to man marking scenario.

Lord have mercy!!!
Blame a player who covered his marker more ans blame the one who lost his marker less....??

I am done.

I even posted the picture to show you that Araujo wasn't taking on anyone because his role was to control his zone. That's often what you do as a manager, you use your biggest aerial presence to control a key zone.

You don't even understand what you're seeing... There's a mix of zonal defending and man to man marking. Olmo loses the 1 vs 1 vs Dumfries, but the biggest error here is Araujo's. 1 vs 1 duels, when you are at a physical disadvantage like Olmo vs Dumfries is here, are often lost. Being useless at covering your zone when you are supposed to be this dominating CB in the air is much worse.

😆 🤣 😂.... this is enough for me to conclude on a few things(will keep those to myself for now)

When playing corners, players qre usualky pre-assigned to their tsrgets to mark ans the defending team WILL ALWAYS.... ALWAYS..... have extra men in the box who will be marking the space because the defensing team WILL ALWAYS OUTNUMBER the attacking players in the box.

Watch all corners played in all matches, my postulation above will be 100% correct.

A football academy student in the U-14s woukd know this without a struggle.

That's what I'm telling you dude. Araujo was tasked to control his zone whenever someone appeared inside his space and he failed.

You put your best players in the air to control the key space which you know the opponent will make runs in. And that's the space in front of the 6m box.

Olmo on Dumfries ?

Bisseck 1.96
Acerbi 1.92 m
Bastoni 1.90 m
Thuram 1.92 m

Dumfries 1.88 m

All of them are extremely strong in the air and physically dominant.

Not easy.

Bro, stop embarrassing yourself. In corners there is no mix of zonal marking and man to man. It is 100% man to man. You are assigned a man to mark ans you follow him till the ball is played.

Not sure many of you know wbat zonal marking is about. I am getting that feeler. Same way one other dude here was arguing with me that Flick instructed his defensers to mix man marking and zonal marking. No sane Coach will confuse his defenders by instructing them to do man-marking and switch to zonal marking at their own whims. Zonal marking is complex enough in its own, talkmore of complicating it further with man marking.

 That's where your football knowledge shows its limits. With statements like that.

Tell me which player does Araujo mark in the picture I showed you. He is obviously the one that doesn't have marking. Him and Raphinha are doing zonal. Raphinha guarding the first post, and Araujo guarding the 6m space.

That's exactly why man to man is not good in this case. And the reason why our supposedly strongest player in the air was not used to man mark an opponent but mark the zone.

Absolutely. There is so much one player could have done across the entire line.

Same thing for the second goal too, Pedri vs Dumfries. No match.

I am sure of Araujo was on the pitch for the second goal, there would have been a way to make him responsible for that goal too 😆 🤣
