Barca Transfers and Rumors

Forum scouts who is this guy

Just realised that his current coach is non other our own Mark, the great, van Bommel. And their SD is Overmars.
Explains a lot, he has a lot of hype so it feels either those has given us a tio, or we are allowing them to use our name to increase his value.
The team is doing really well btw, to my surprise.

A bit funny how people are so keen on Mbappe, while a big part of the forum is against Messi returning for a year or two due to how his limited workrate off the ball would affect our team.
Mbappe at the age of 24 literally runs less than 35 year old Messi and would possibly contribute even less defensively.
Also seems to have a bigger ego and be atleast as moody as Messi has ever been. Would also no doubt demand much higher wages than the 25m Messi has been offered.

He is an absolute killer tho, and the most dangerous player of this generation so far.
The last bit is why.

Why is that a surprise? They have a relatively rich owner who wants to invest and wants to win. I think they lost the league though last game.
Overmars is doing good as a SD but Van Bommel is a horrible coach that plays very negative football.

Don't follow the league that much, and just know the usual suspects like Genk, Brugge, Anderlecht etc. So that was news to me.

I think we'll make one big investment this summer where they'll splash the money and that will be the CDM. Every time Xavi is interviewed he keep talking about the importance of getting it right no matter what when it comes to the DM signing. Rest of the signings will be cheaper ones or loans I think. Maybe Cancelo will be signed for 20-30m or on a loan with option to buy for a reasonable price. Inigo is coming on a free transfer. Maybe Messi too altho seem unlikely at the moment. No LB will be signed to replace Alba was Alonso will be the backup.

Biggest question then is if not Zubimendi who currently don't want to leave then who?

Declan Rice? Bruno Guimaraes? Kimmich? Ugarte?

With all the positions we need to reinforce, we should go for Firmino for free as Lewy backup. Sure in an ideal world Roque comes and learns from Lewy for a year or two, but that's 40-50m we can spend on other positions where we need actual starters.

I can only assume that people haven't seen much of Ugarte, otherwise the clamour for his signing would be far more resounding. I've seen a fair bit of him and he was pretty much the best player in the park in the 4 big games of the season against Benfica and Porto.

He reminds me a little of Masch and is levels above the players that have been linked to Barca so far. To want to break your back to pay 60m for Zubi and completely ignore Ugarte for a slightly lesser fee is absolute madness.

And if Ugarte has somehow escaped our scouts, then why not Caicedo for 60m? Both are levels above Zubi.

Ugarte or Caicedo y nada mas for me. Otherwise just gamble on Dias or Redondo or Varela. These other players that are linked are no where near the level required and never will be. We will be stuck with them for years, stinking up the place.

We could get Bruno Guimares for 40mil, but no, we want him now for 80-100mil.

It says all about our board.

Barça, one step ahead

Although in Spain it seems that the main option for him right now is Barcelona, for a matter of the situation: the culé team is going to start a new stage next season, after completing this season the departure of the last remaining from the glorious years (Piqué, Busquets and Alba). If Veiga goes to Barcelona, his options to start as a starter are great, but he is waiting to see if Barça manages to make room for him in the economic control imposed by LaLiga.

AS say we are ahead of Madrid for the 40m Gabriel Veiga. I'm not seeing how we can effectively setup with if Veiga were signed and a DMC wasn't.

Pedri-FdJ double pivot with Gavi and Veiga in front doesn't install me with confidence. Not with the lack of control that Veiga and Gavi have shown in their game.

Well, he is Celta top prospect, we play Celta.
Only natural that media link us to him

Won't take it seriously, but if he comes he will be competing for Gavi's LCM/LW most likely

Xavi: “I told the president that Messi return makes sense. No doubts at all, he is perfect for our system and idea. I’ve the tactical plan in mind with Leo”, told Sport. “It’s up to Leo. I think he has to decide, it’s up to him… I’m speaking with Leo, yes”,

Quite hilarious considering he hasn't even had any sort of tactical plan without Messi the past 2 seasons.

Maybe his genius plan is to have Messi walk around for 90 minutes vs top European sides and have the absolutely exhausted midfield, who have been covering him all season at this point, continue to cover him and be overrun.

There is no other top European club run like ours where signings are so political and nonsensical. Signing players because they are Catalan or Spanish, signing players from preferred "friendly" agents or scrubs from Brazil for no reason.

I love Messi, and I think he's the best player to ever live and was unplayable in his prime, but he will make our starting 11 worse now, not better. Dembele and Raphinha might not be as useful going forward as Messi on a good day, but they help defensively and press....and over the course of an entire season, especially in Europe, I value that more than Messi's output at his current age.
