Looks like Laporta and the guys in charge of cantera contracts are losing their sight on priorities. Short-sightedness is so abundant at this club.

When was the last time a player 18 or older left the club and proved the club wrong?
If anything, it has been one consistent good trait within the club.
Only ones I can think of is Icardi and Thiago, both happened long time ago and their situation was different (and both left under Rossell)
Barbera wasn't really highly rated until this year when he started banging goals, and while I would love to keep him it seems a bit unfair to call them out for it.

Had some high hopes on Cucu playing for Barca. A bit disappointing as Barca supporter he's doing well away from the club, but I'm happy for him.

Isn't Cucu pretty trash for Chelsea though?

But yeah we could've made a lot more money off of him for sure.

I don't know, past history doesn't necessarily predict or indicate the future. Sure most players who left so far has turned out to be nothing but we don't know what will happen. Not that I know anything about this kid, but we all know we are struggling to find a CF, so we should try our best to keep any good prospects. Like Jamdav said, in stead of spending money to bring in some random guys from Turkey or Argentina etc. who will probably leave in a couple of years anyways.

Araujo, Pedri were signed from outside along Todibo & Marlon who were also signed for little and brought profits.
And short contracts are actually the norm for Barca even before Laporta.
There is actually rules that prevent signing U-18 for more than 3 years, although clubs ignore it a lot tbf

Regardless of the contract length allowed for U-18 players, we shouldn't let those of more promising players get to the point of closing to expiration before scrambling to renew them. As Porque pointed out, most of Madrid's players in Spain's U-19 team have contracts through 25-26 while ours are expiring soon. Not particularly a criticism of Laporta, I guess it is more of an institutional short-sightedness running deep in the club across the board which predates his current tenure. Anyways, if the club didn't value him and all of sudden he came good, then I hope it is not too late. Or at least get a buy-back clause inserted.

V?ctor Barber? of the youth academy will replace Ferran Jutgl? at Club Brugge. Jutgl? will go to Lazio, with Bar?a charging 10% of the sale if it's above €5m.

No!
God noo!

Guess he wants to test himself at a higher, can't blame him for that, he looks the business at youth level.

Huge step up from Juv A and B team to Brugge at 18 but if cant go now and get % of hm in future about best can do.

Jutgla did it but was older and had some experience in first team as well as performing in B team with variety of goals.

Doesnt seem like they are trying all that hard to stop him leaving.

Maybe if the Jutgla move is correct.. they like the knock on effect of some cash for his deal now and more for Barbera potentially in future.
