11 - Raphinha

Respekt_III

Anti-everything
Under Xavi since the winter, we actually were neck and neck with Madrid in points. It's realistic that if we get a striker and a winger to compete with Benzema and Vinicius, we have a shot at the title.

Lewandowski and Raphinha would get us with a solid fighting chance until the end.

The only serious edge Madrid would have is Courtois being best keeper in the world and Stegen being a terrorist. We can survive that.

There's only two roads:

A. Invest and get top players to compete for titles, for now in Spain and pretty soon in CL too.

B. Invest nothing, cut more costs, sell De Jong even, since he makes no difference (and is overpaid) if we can't improve 3-4 positions, and develop the youngsters while making top 3 in La Liga (as in 2nd or 3rd) + getting beat in last 16 in CL or something (hopefully not too badly this time).

There is no miracle C option where you invest low money and you fight for titles against much superior sides. This is not Farmers League we're talking about here.

That's the Barto mentality, shouldn't be paying more than 40m for Raphinha, especially considering our financial situation. Do you genuinely think we will challenge with those two additions to our squad and Xavi being our manager? I don't.

There are potentially other players in the market that I'd rather take a chance on or even take player on loan with options to buy. I'd rather stabilise so that long term we can then actually get tier 1 players and players with sell on value rather then burning money for no reason and not really challenging...

Rapinha is not that good.

Renew Dembele, Lewa, Kounde and Bernardo we can talk.

I can't believe people want to renew a bum that had 6 good months during the last 5 years here. That idiot costed us 140 mil + sallary and showed nothing during his first 4,5 years here. In addition to that he and his agent disrespected Barca numerous of times in the last 12 months. Where are those huge offers for him now? Where are all the clubs who were fighting to give him Ballon d'Or salary? Where is PSG? Where is Chelsea? Where is Lpool? In the end he will get what he deserved.

Raphinha is a brilliant talent ... perfect for our right side ..

Trouble is Chelsea are closing on on him whilst we negotiate with Dembele

Deco was in Barca's offices today again. I don't think we gave up on Raphinha. Regarding Demebele, he basically has few hours left to accept our terms or we will revoke our offer for sure. We will probably know today if Demebele stays or not.

That's generous.

Yeah, I like Raphinha more in terms of style too. A fast, direct and strong player, with a precise and powerful shot, good dribbling, who also seems to have proper mentality. Could be a big hit for us.

Dembele only has a better acceleration. For everything else, I rate Raphinha higher.

Imagine if Dembele does come back and take our offer today. It basically means that he couldn't find a better offer from around Europe on a free.

Meanwhile for us, there is no point of extending for 2 years as there is no resale interest.

Still I would be extremely shocked if he stayed. I think the papers are milking the story and that he has long agreed to sign with someone.

It wouldn't make sense to have a good player on a free and no one makes him a solid offer.

Unless his agent completely priced him out of the market and ruptured relations with interested clubs. Which would not surprise me either. There is a reason that Camavinga left him to sign for Madrid.

Why would he hide this? There is no reason whatsoever for that. I sincerely doubt he has any meaningful offer on the table.

Kessie hasn't said he signed with Barcelona. For whatever reason Dembele has not commented on anything and probably prefers no to start now.

Yeah but that was clear as a day for over 6 month now. Kessie had a reasonable demands while Demebele and his agent had demands like he is Ballon d'Or candidate. No one will pay more than we are offering to him. No way in hell. For example Bernardo's salary in City is 8 millions. Why would anyone give more than 6 mil to an idiot who had 6 good months during the last 5 seasons. No one is that dumb. Not even PSG or Arsenal.
