Relax, he's not coming.

Even the daily rags are beginning to move on to hyping other targets. All the reports are saying Haaland is almost impossible, City is in the lead, but Laporta will try.

Pain. Replacements suck.

Laporta more or less admitted that Haaland rejected our offer.

Said that even if the club had the best financial situation there are certain things they wouldn't do, which is BS since all this CVC stuff and other things were being made to sign him, and they were ready to offer him a massive salary.

Madrid media also changed their tune saying they have Benzema and don't need Haaland right now so I think both Barca and Real Madrid have already been told by Raiola that they are choosing Man City.

Tbh, Haaland would've been a potentially bad deal for us. Some great factors, but some questionable ones too. We pay through the moon for a Madridista, one with a slimy agent, potential injury problems, so far not really proven at the really elite level, while also playing for the team whose players tend to flop under pressure? There's a chance for a Dembele-like outcome for sure.

Madrid already schooled everyone by securing the best player in the world for no transfer fee. Every other so-called galactico signing just pales in comparison with the real deal.

Just try to go the Liverpool route, by having an extremely disciplined, hard-working, and cohesive team. And, in time, try to develop our own players to a world class level, as Bayern and Liverpool did with the likes of Gnabry, Coman, Mane, Salah, etc. Do that and we can compete.

When was the last time we developed a world class striker?

We don't play disciplined, hard-working football. We play possession attacking football, with some added flair.

Bayern already had a World Class base for the likes of Coman and Gnabry to come in and perform. Liverpool was a perfect storm honestly. Who would have thought Salah and Mane would turn out so good from day one. They hardly developed them as they performed like top class players first day. Although Klopp's system might have helped. Liverpool still needed van Dijk and Alisson to be able to be serious contenders though.

It's easier said than done anyway. Would have liked a true World Class player in our team right now as we arguably have none. A lot of potential World Class players with Pedri the most notable player but no player that currently is truly WC. Let alone having that backbone of WC players Bayern had.

Save the money slotted for Haaland and don?t go for some knee jerk and short term alternatives like Lukaku, Schick, Werner, Andre Silva etc., go to Brazil and elsewhere look for potential good CF talent like how Real Madrid signed vicinicius etc., use the money to beef up our defense and bide our time. In a couple of years some other names will come around.

It's tough, which is why the club won't be doing stuff like winning CLs anytime soon. You need years of building and developing step by step. Xavi has less than 6 months with some cheapo signings and only one addition for the long term, Ferran.

Liverpool were more than serious contenders though once they added those missing pieces, they kind of are best or 2nd best in the world in the last 3-4 years. With that bad last season affected by injuries pilling up.

You can win big if you work well, bring in players with a top mentality and good quality. You don't really need hyper-marketable players. Chelsea won it with Werner the joke finisher, Mount, and Pulisic another new kid, plus Havertz, a talented but inconsistent youngster. Basically, their CL was won with elite management by Tuchel, a strong, very orderly defense with minimum errors, and one elite midfielder peaking at the right time in Kante.

I think Haaland would go to Real Madrid if he could, but Benzema’s form is too good to make him a priority signing for them.
Mbappe is enough for them at this point.

More of a timing issue than anything. I can imagine Man City to Real Madrid would be his ideal choice provided his injuries hold up for him.

Few folks would remember those days, but in 2000 Gaspart (new president, and club vice president for 22 years) has claimed Barcelona is the club of the century because it is the club where the likes of Maradona, Crujif, Romario & Ronaldo played. So if the greatest players ever have played for us then we are the best.
Was stupid claim by one of the worst presidents we ever had for sure, that being said it says a lot about the club legacy, history and even ideology.
Folks claiming we should "do it as Liverpool and Bayern" have a point for sure, they are the modern model. But this isn't what the culers and socios aim for. There is a burden and consequence of the long history of the stars.
That is the reason we have been trying to get Halaand, the reason we gave Fati 10 and tried to promote him as the next star.
The club has been unlucky tbf, as Fati had so much potential in being top 5 player and face of the team, but injuries ruined him and this happened few years after treble mega failures of Dembele/Griezmann/Coutinho.

Smart thing will be avoiding big signing attacker, get someone cheap if Xavi insists but a very likely scenario is that we will feel the pressure and will look at a new poster boy even if old one
