The word from Messi?s entourage says that the club never made the proposal for Leo to play for free. However, if they did, they might have gotten a surprise answer.

It's not the club's position to make such proposal.
That's embarrassing and disrespectful towards Messi.

On the contrary, if one is to make such proposal is the player himself.
The onus of such gesture is on the player.

This is big BS coming from Messi's camp to muddy the waters.
He didn't want to play for free. He wanted his money, the money that he is getting at PSG now

And there's nothing wrong with that. The only problem is some fans and media somehow portrayed Messi as this sort of noble person who is full of virtue, which is nowhere near the real image of him. It's hilarious. He is a great football player with vices and human flaws like the average Joe.

The club told Messi we can't "afford" him, I think that clearly implies his salary and he understands that.
There is nothing wrong in Messi asking to be paid, it is his right and he earned it, he repaid the club for his investment in him.
Only thing I blame Laporta is admitting he was a bit a dreamer and desperate at the very end, although I doubt that he really is.

There is no such thing as playing for free ya dumbasses. Birdy might jerk off all he wants at Dembele's eventual rise to fame once he leaves this stinking club, but he forgets the motherfucker cost the club an arm and a leg while providing 0 in return. Good thing we're paying him and don't ask him to do it for free.

Messi shook hands with Laporta on a 50% cut. Laporta then switched the story at the last minute(because he assured everyone that things are good) and basically told Messi to fuck off as he has nothing to offer.

And suddenly some 'fans' in here see it as Messi being greedy and entitled for not kissing Laporta's feet. I would say Laporta should have come with a plan as he was the one trying to get out of a deal he agreed with initially.

Also, should the other players play for free? Should fans pay the big ticket prices while Messi plays for free? Hell, if Messi does it, why not everyone else then?

A moronic statement by Laporta.

No. Messi wanted to play for free and they just never proposed it so he was forced to take millions from PSG
This ridiculous statement I just made has just as much credibility as yours. Sink on that.

Precisely so!
Not only noble and virtuous, but even saint-like!!
And that's because he was GOAT on the pitch -> ergo he must be the GOAT as a character as well, the new moral Christ on earth! LOL:lol:

OF course not. Who would want to work for free? He is giving his labor and his body for your entertainment, compensate him on his worth.

Don't worry, Dembouz is the much better guy here, 4 years of nothingness while going out for free at the end of his contract. Some people( the wise ones) support the GOAT, while ones without too much football knowledge(Birdy) support nothing players like Dumbele. Like i said dude...switch to golf. Football is too complicated for you.

Luis Suarez acted as an intermediary between Messi and Atletico. Suarez spoke to Atletico CEO Gil Marin who could only offer 20M net. Messi rejected the offer for economic reasons and he didn't want to betray Barcelona (via @partidazocope)

If this is true
