La Liga | Round 7: Atletico Madrid - FC Barcelona 2-0

The sheer fact that Suarez provided a goal and an assist is the icing of the cake for me. No, wait. It was a video in social media, showing how the club beat Atletico somewhat fiveteen years ago. It's probably that. The club also used to beat mid table teams back in the early 70s. Great time to remember, but it's not like that anymore. At least we had a couple of shots on target, that's more than we can expect, considering the last couple of matches.
A plan B is missing for years. Messi could cover that pretty well with his individual performance, but now it seems finally visible for everyone. It's not the results that bother me or a period of transformation. If that means we can sort out some of the old, well deserved and decorated, but now lame players, then I'm totally fine with it. Building a team around Fati, De Jong, Pedri and some other youngsters would be hella cool. But this club needs an idea. The idea is missing.

We lost with messi every firepower we had. There is a reason why he was our best goalscorer by far. Problem is that he also created many of his chances as well:lol: So there is nobody to score or create:lol: We cant defend which is nothing new. We are maybe the slowest team on earth:lol: Suarez looked like a hell of a fast player which says a lot about the speed of our team.

This year could end up even worse than expected.

It's early 2000's mediocrity all over again, stuck with some eredivisie rejects.

It's much worse, we actually had world class players even in that period, like Rivaldo or Kluivert. If La Liga would be as competitive now as it was in that period, we would have had no chance at top 4. I am not sure we will be top 4 this season either.

We have some world class players now as well like De Jong, and soon to be like Fati and Pedri.

Be serious. De Jong can't even lace Rivaldo's boots. Rivaldo was rivalling Il Fenomeno Ronaldo and Zidane in being the best player in the world in an era stacked with incredible players. De Jong is good, and he ll be very good in a functional team surely, but he is still nowhere near of being the best midifielder in the world. Fati and Pedri are still promises, let's see. If Fati will not be teared down by the weight of the number he has on his shirt, he can become worldclass. Pedri, i have my doubts.

Completely no good rating !! how can they rate subs who played few minutes ?

With their rating it feels like if you just stands in the pitch and do nothing you will get 4/10 !

Mingueza 4/10 : "Mingueza was partially to blame for both goals"

Meanwhile Araujo 4.5 /10

this guys watched another match.

This one is more realistic than the shit barcauniverse put out even if i had to disagree with Depay and Gavi ratings :

Marc-Andre ter Stegen (GK) - 6/10 - Wasn't given much chance of stopping either strike and proved reliable otherwise.

Oscar Mingueza (RB) - 6/10 - Firm at the back, defending very well to stifle the progress of Carrasco but simply failed to add any quality when on the front foot.

Ronald Araujo (CB) - 3/10 - Given the absolute run-around by the the hosts' front line, leaving acres of space behind him with costly consequences.

Gerard Pique (CB) - 6/10 - Strong and quick to cover for his full-back, putting in a couple of tasty tackles.

Sergino Dest (LB) - 4/10 - Obviously no one has let him know he can actually go on the outside of his full-back yet. So predictable.

Frenkie de Jong (RM) - 6/10 A class act when he's on-song. Moved the opposition around with some clever movement and looked masterful when in possession, turning sharply and dictating the tempo with subtle yet such effective feints

Sergio Busquets (CM) - 6/10 - Distributed the ball nicely, occasionally finding some beautifully weighted passes that cut through the hosts' lines. Defended valiantly against such dynamic opposition, too, making four ball recoveries.

Nico Gonzalez (CM) - 4/10 - A good physical presence but showed his immaturity, often finding himself wrong side - including for the opening goal - and committing needless fouls without being able to protect his back four. Hooked off at the break.

Gavi (LM) - 6/10 - Like watching a mini Pedri - if that's possible. Tenacious, quick of mind and foot, bright and persistently forward-thinking. Desperate to make things happen, but failed to muster the end product to do so.

Philippe Coutinho (ST) - 5/10 - Completely ineffective in the first half but was much brighter when moved out to the left after the break. Creative and tricky from wide but should have scored on the hour mark.

Memphis Depay (ST) - 6/10 - Gave more than his all to inspire his side to a result, but it wasn't enough. Was involved in play all over the field but couldn't carve out the killer pass and didn't get the service to make the breakthrough himself.

Posting the ratings from the barcauniverse link previously posted:
Marc-Andre Ter Stegen: 6/10 In yet another horrendous defensive performance, ter Stegen remains devoid of any blame. The German shot-stopper could not do much against Thomas Lemar and Luis Suarez?s goals.

Oscar Mingueza: 4/10 Mingueza was partially to blame for both goals, as Yannick Carrasco, Joao Felix, and in some part Rodrigo de Paul ran the left side of Atleti?s attack. Mingueza did offer a useful option in the attacking third, but to no avail as Barcelona ended the game scoring zero.

Ronald Araujo: 4.5/10 After countless dominant performances, it was only natural for Araujo to come back to Earth. The Uruguayan was turned to the floor by Felix during the first goal, and was nowhere near during the second. In the final quarter of the game, Antoine Griezmann was able to easily bully Araujo off the ball which could have been the third of the game. A really poor display from Barcelona?s best player this season.

Gerard Pique: 5/10 Pique did his best against the Rojiblancos lethal attack, although it was far from enough. To be fair, he was caught in a helpless one versus two during Atl?tico?s second goal, and could only block off one part of the goal as Suarez tucked the ball in the other side.

Sergi?o Dest: 4/10 Tasked with plenty of responsibility to provide a threat from the width, Dest was mostly ineffectual on the night. Defensively, there was not much he could do.

Nico Gonzalez: 4/10 The 19-year old didn?t do much in his short stint, and was struggling to keep up against the likes of Lemar, Koke, and de Paul. As Nico was continued to be outrun, he was replaced by Sergi Roberto at half-time.

Serio Busquets: 6/10 Barcelona?s new captain has had a slow start to the campaign, particularly when considering his dominant performances at Euro 2020. Still, this performance against Atl?tico was by-the-book, even when considering his role in the double pivot.

Frenkie De Jong: 6/10 De Jong looked stumped completely out of position. Frenkie de Jong was visible all throughout the pitch, however, his impact was not proportionally felt. He had a chance to score in the first half after a Memphis header was laid off to him on the right, but could not get on the end of it. Starting him as a winger was arguably the worst of decisions from Koeman during his tenure.

Gavi: 6.5/10 Gavi was a generally positive presence on the pitch, full of energy and verticality. Was unlucky to not get an assist as Philippe Coutino scoundered a chance in the second half, handing the ball straight to Oblak. The youngster is proving more than worthy of his recent call-up to the Spanish National Team.

Coutinho: 6/10 Coutinho had an overall standard performance, dropping into pockets to pick up the ball and making runs into the box at the same time. He made a couple of incisive passes but should have registered a goal, but fluffed his chance.

Depay: 5.5/10 Depay found himself on the end of a few chances, but could not do enough on the night. He was often left isolated as a result of Koeman?s formation of choice. That said, he did create three half-decent chances.

I think they are pretty similar, I agree that Depay was the worst offensive player and that Gavi was the best Barcelona player. In the back four, probably Pique was the least bad one, I also agree.

You have to have watched a different game to give Pique 6/10.

In the first goal, his actions are like those of a drunk person. Araujo got turned, Nico didn't track Lemar as he should have, and Pique allowed Suarez acres of space to receive the ball and play it through for Lemar.

All 3 were absolute clowns at the goal.

Pique was a clown at the 2nd goal as well, also with other 4-5 teammates who fucked up also (Depay, Mingueza, Araujo, Coutinho, Busi). The 2nd goal is a disastrous team error. Whole sections just move and act like drunk persons. From Depay who just passes to the opponent unprovoked while the team was occupying high build-up positions, all the way to Stegen looking for BBZ's coins in the grass before the shot is even made, to Pique who thought being a lamp post on the line is a good idea instead of rushing to close down the player.

I'd say everyone was a 2,3 or a 4, except for Gavi who was a 6-7. Kind of impressive to be as decent when everyone around you is a walking disaster.

Plus the clear-cut chance he gifted to Suarez in the 1st half

You have to also take into account the degree of responsibility. Pique's clownery created the most harm in both goals.
Araujo got turned for the 1st one, but what created Atleti's chance was Pique's lack of movement, no awareness of where the last line of D is,
creating tons of ONSIDE space for Suarez.

Said it again in another post:
He is DONE
These mistakes are not even down to pace and athleticism.
They are down to bad anticipation and reading of the game, skills that SUPPOSEDLY he still has... LMAOL
