Koeman needs to rip off this shitty bandaid and prepare this team to play in the future without a DM of Busi's profile. He is a burden on the team in his current state and whatever few positives he brought aren't likely to be found in his eventual successor.

He was good and should obviously keep playing.
The team as a whole was poor in the press and with the ball. MCs way too passive defensively.
I hope someone compiles Busquets touches from this game, and analyzes the defensive structure.

I guess he has 0 responsibility for strolling in the middle of the park unable to catch any Bayern player? He is a defensive liability.

Did Frenkie or Pedri ever catch a player?
No they didn't even get close to them, but jogged in a large space with no connection to anything.
Busquets isn't a great defender with that surrounding, it's obvious, but he still came out much better than these two in my opinion.

Once again though, he went out of his position to pressure their DMC, just like against PSG first leg last year. I don't like it, and I don't like the three passive CB:s behind. I think the defending as a whole was very passive and without structure and I'd rather point at Koeman than at Busquets.

All I can tell you Bobo32 is that the game has changed a lot now. Yes even only Busi being a step slower puts a ton more pressure on FDJ and Pedri. They have to run and cover for the lack of ground that Busi is covering. He doesn't have the legs anymore for the Bayern's and City's.

Busquets has been pressing madly high for years, at least since 2014. At this point, it is one of his traits. Abysmal at defending the space in his area despite having the reputation of a positional master.

Your whataboutism regarding Frenkie and Pedri is not a good argument either. It's true they were bad, but it doesn't justify Busi's trademark stinker.

But then Frenkie was CDM and was just as bad at covering for Pedri, who was just as bad at covering for the "lack of ground" Frenkie could cover as he was for Busi...

Hm I believe you think about another thing there. He always followed in the press even up to the goalie, but to mark the dmc when they have the ball under control is something I didn't notice before Koeman.
