Mavericky Puig

What numerous? Koeman and that's about it at club level. If you play only garbage minutes at your team you won't get minutes at the national team, that's the way it goes. His biggest problem is Koeman doesn't like him, and this is why he needs to go on loan.

Eric Garcia played for Spain on little minutes.

Puig also got in Spain U21 and was poor/average and they would have most likely kept him around if more impressive.

There seems this idea that Puig 'always performs' and deserved a lot more minutes when in fact he was poor in three of his four starts last season.

His problem is Koeman doesnt rate him much like other coaches at intl level, like Setien by end of time and EV previously. But some cant accept that Puig is not rated as highly by Koeman as they rate him and cant see it as anything but a personality issue or not liking him.

Psychologically a bit interesting to read the posts after my previous post here.
Wherever else you look where the game is discussed most people are raving about Puigs 45, the commentators thought he was one who stood out as well.
2 months with no games, and 45 good minutes yesterday, but you'd get another impression if you just read here...

On other places like Twitter, Facebook, Reddit and similar, you have 13 year olds or weird casual fans who are overly optimistic and every new player is the next star player and every kid is the new Xavi or Iniesta.

A test: go on such places and check the overal opinion on Puig, Collado, Demir, Balde or any youngster yesterday.
A wild guess: they were all WOW, so much talent and potential, we are stacked with talents, our future is bright, right?

No, they are raving in particular about Puig and Demir. Some mention Balde as well. Not a very big difference to here, only Puig has turned a couple of years older, got extremely neglected by Koeman, and also some posters have said they get irritated by my posts, influencing how they rate Puig.

I don't know the age of the posters here, but the consensus buildup here is almost like being with a group of teenage girls, and the resulting opinions are often weird and casual.
I read a lot of "WOW Mingueza! WOW Araujo!! Pedri!!!! Dest! WOW they are young!! Ilaix!!!" on this forum, and a bit too little consistent rating of ability.

This forum is still overrating youngsters in general, but it is miles better than let's say in 2013 or in 2016.
Younger posters who started following football during Pep, never had the chance to be disappointed by young players because:
1. those fans were young with not too much experience
2. and Barca had a golden period where more or less everything they touched around 2010 turned into gold
When you pair those two, this forum was extremely weird and hippie place in the first part of 2010s where every negative post about any youngster was treated with: you are an idito and you don't know anything about football.

But over years, lots of guys who were 15 or 20 back then are today 25 or 30 and they both gained a larger experience/sample of 10s of failed prospects both at Barca and in other big clubs so imo, today's post are way more objective and balanced.
In general, regular posters are way more cautious after watching in person the development of Samper, Halilovic, Adama, Montoya, Bartra, Alena, Dembele, Malcom, Denis, Munir, Deulofeu, Sandro, Dongou, baby Busquets Oriol, Grimaldo, Cucu, Trincao etc.
Imo, new posters are "the bigger problem", they are more hyped, optimistic and maybe naive.
Older posters have turned to dark/negative/pessimist side

On the other hand, other places like Youtube, Reddit and similar are like some parallel universe, I don't even want to step there or read the comments.

Both of the groups you mention are misinterpreting the sample, probably because of a lack of football understanding or a lack of trust in their own understanding.
Most of the players you mention had a predictable carreer development, but many of them could've been used a bit more instead of bought mediocre players.

You have to first understand that the club is mishandled greatly ever since 2010, and after Pep left it has pretty much been in a constant (slow) free-fall, only staying competitive because of what Pep, Laporta, Txiki et al built (and partly on a couple of the very expensive populist transfers like Neymar and Suarez).

What happened with Pep was a success because of the total trust in the system, and the total trust in the homegrown players to build the system. It was not at all that everything turned to gold - both Bojan and Gio were very hyped back then for instance, as well as the israeli Gai, none of them succeeded really (Bojan could've played a bigger part). Players like Tello and Bartra were used and played well when the club was stable, just as Peque and Comas could be used now, with a competent manager and a stable club.
But there have been less and less patience with players, instead they have tried to buy new players without thinking about how they fit, they have also used many managers with different styles - Valverde being one who could handle the mess better than most, but who should've not been there because he only postponed the inevitable crisis, making it harder to fix. It's a pretty dire situation right now, with Messi, Busquets and Alba having their last years - when they are gone it will be much tougher to integrate young canteranos into a world class team.

I can see the same people making fun of me for rating Puig making fun of people who didn't believe Deulofeu would be the next Messi 10 years ago. There are a lot of these kinds of people in this forum it seems, or rather there are a few, and they set the tone for the rest.

Pep used young players he thought were good enough.

He was using Adriano and Busquets at CB before turning to Barta who was defensive player of year in Segunda.

This idea that Pep threw in all youngsters with promise is nonsense and Barca have promoted more B players on average since Pep left compared to his time in charge.

Just more proof you didnt watch back then and try to sound like know what speaking about.

You mention names like Barta when Pep barely picked him bar a few meaningless minutes and chose to play likes of Adriano and Busquets at CB before turning to him.

Puig would have got nowhere near any of Peps sides at Barca.

Pedri and FDJ would have struggled to and they are in a different class to him.

The vast majority of top la masia players came through in recent times when the club was not so stable and Pedri did it last season as did Araujo, Mingueza etc as young players. All just excuse after excuse for Puig.

Wonder why Pep doesn't come for a top 5 midfielder in the world rotting on the bench as we speak and turn him into a beast he is. What a chance missed!

Let's see how this whole thing plays out...
Pep is said to have told Puig to have patience and stay. I believe he'll be proven right.
I have written the timeline many times here, and Puig seems to be trusted again, although not by the manager maybe.
Yes I could very well see Pep bringing him in to City in one year or in half a year, if the situation would be like last year.

I do not get hard depending on the players age, and I wonder how many days Pedri spent in La Masia... Araujo?

Who claimed Pedri and Aruajo were La Masia?

They are young players who were given a chance last season along with Mingueza and took those chances.

Is the awful argument that only La Masia young players need a calm situation in first team to come through?

All just shitey excuses for Puig and nothing else.

Pep would not have Puig anywhere near City. Pure delusion.

Puig certainly won't be trusted by Koeman. If he gets more minutes on the pitch, it'll most likely stem from Laporta pressuring the coach into it. Think of it as you like.

And that's a good thing!
I feel some/most posters here want this player to fail tbh. A joy to watch him yesterday, despite a few mistakes.

He shouldn't have to pressurize the manager so he doesn't burn out his team by April like he did last year. If Koeman doesn't use the full squad, which is pretty light as it is all things considered, he'll fail again in La Liga.
