Yeah i think that's right. if you see the highlights of the Real-Eintracht final from the 1950s you can clearly tell the sport was very amateurish and not very athletic...

Its just kinda crazy how they bagged 3 CLS in 5 years back in the 00s. kind of like our 06-09-11 run (but we were better hehe)

It was a good side but nothing special.

They finished quite low in the league in some of those seasons.

Plus, 2 of their CL finals were against Valencia and Bayer Leverkusen, hardly teams with pedigree.

Their 14-18 side is their best ever, no doubt since the competition was low in the 50s.

This implies that I thought Barcelona were a good side at the time. Which it wasn't, so beating a Valencia without CL pedigree remains a decent feat but nothing special.

Valancia was as good or better team of AM under early years of Simeone.
RM first galactico was the golden standard back then, great team tbh. Very entertaining and lead to RM financial domination at that time due to huge popularity.
But the way it has ended was terrible tbh, and they weren't even that old when their downfall happened.
Also, never had that super dominant side, failed to win Liga + CL in same year.
That is why it can be overlooked in era of trebles when you look at it in hindsight

Valencia in 2000 and 2001 was a top side, similar to AM, I agree. Madrid in 2000-2002 was a hugely entertaining side imo. Everyone was nuts about them in the block when I was a teenager. Some classics with Bayern at that time if I remember right.

I think they are pretty similar to Rijkaard's Barcelona, maybe a bit under. But not a lot. Peak Ronaldo Madrid is better no doubt though, all of 2012, 2014 and 2017 I think from Mourinho, Ancelotti and Zidane.

They were miles better in the football they played, within their historical context, compared to Zidane's 16-18 team.
Actually I think the 2000-onwards team under Del Bosque was a different team to the '98 that won under Hyunkes.
So, I think it's a wrong grouping to say the 'RM team that won 3 CLs', those were two different teams. The '98 one was not so great, and inferior to the Juve of the time IMO.
But the Del Bosque team played great football.

They'll have their stadium soon while Bartomeu and co. fucked up our club so bad we don't know when or if we'll ever be able to finish the Espai Barca project.

Yup. They seized upon the great opportunity presented by COVID to renovate their stadium with zero impact on matchday revenue potentially disrupted, also they got their funding at very low interest rate. I'd expect their revenue to be ahead of ours by at least 150m starting in the 22/23 season.

That's why Laporta's suggestion to either play at another stadium to speed up the building or possibly look at building a new stadium at the Camp Nou grounds should be studied. I'm not sure socis will agree to it though.

Honestly if I were a Madridista I wouldn't be happy about the idea of dedicating part of their stadium complex to a casino, even though I'd be very happy with the additional money generated from it.

Casino doesn't sound good to be in association with a sport entity. But it is Real Madrid, that club is all about making money and business after all.

I saw that too but I am not sure how feasible that is. There isn't an easy win-win solution: If we move our home games away from Camp Nou to another venue say like the Johan Cruyff Stadium or another stadium we rent from, capacity will be much smaller therefore attendance will be much less and consequently our matchday revenue will be greatly reduced. If we don't, renovation will take much longer and home game attendance will be partially affected regardless, since it seems Laporta wants us to do the work during the season.

Funding is another issue of course, not sure if we will go ahead with Goldman Sachs' deal.
