Liverpool steamrolled Spurs tonight. Dominant performance:

How is Matip still in that club? I swear he's on the books just out of sympathy at this point. Man can't play 3 games in a row without getting hurt. Could challenge Hazard. Liverpool paying big for choosing to cover LB with that Greek kid who hadn't even touched the ball this season instead of investing in a serious partner for VVD. Oh well

True, Matip is getting injured as much as Umtiti and Hazard. Unfortunately I should say because he is class (even the first half he played tonight, he showed it again).
Klopp could not foresee that both Gomez and VVD will get season-long injuries. He thought Fabinho will cover if necessary, and now Fabinho is their most precious CB.
Tsimikas buy was a good move. Robertson never shows fatigue, but you can't risk not having any cover for ever...

But are going to rectify that by going out and out for Upamecano in the summer, according to the leaks...

exactly. matip is great when fit and klopp couldn't have predicted that his starting CBs would get season-long injuries

I wasn't highlighting their strategy not making sense. It does.
I was highlighting how a strategy that was so meticulously decent has actually blown up in their face in the only possible way it could have. They didn't buy a CB because they were counting on 'VVD + anyone who plays CB best at any given time' is enough so 'let's get someone in to give Robbo a break'. Now turns out every CB is injured as well as the other guy they spent on and even Trent is making them wish they had a 2nd RB for competition.

The irony.
