We lack the balls as a club to do that. Should happen effective immediately. Don't want a guy who doesn't even want to be here to lead the new team. Put someone hungry from the new wave. Maybe De Jong.

I will hold so much respect for Koeman if he does this and if he benches Messi when needed

Now if Messi stays, it would be nice if he signed a 1 year contract extension with a 100-200m range buyout clause so that he can financially help us with his exit. Similar to what other players have done at there respective clubs.

If he stays now he will stay until 2022...mark my words on this.

The new board will provide him incentive to extend until 2022...He'll play top level to make sure he ready for the world cup. In 2022 he'll call it quits on his Barca and Argentina career after the world cup.

This isn't the same thing at all. Bayern's squad was still better than ours last season. They also had a young squad. They also had no debt. They were only a good coach away from winning the Champions League.

Tbh I want messi to go now he's said he wants to and with not turning up to training, most likely hoping to leave on a free sucks. HOWEVER, if Koeman has the balls to take the captaincy from him, suarez and vidal still go then we could finally see a barca that isn't all focused about Messi but still having him as a weapon in the team. High hopes of course but I'm sick of being all miserable about everything, only thing worse than the season we just had would be finishing outside top 4. Onwards and upwards!

Hindsight is easy to say. Maybe K4 coaching time changes us too.

There are other examples. Sulking Stevie G is one where his move to Chelsea failed. Liverpool won the CL the season after.

All I'm saying is he gets paid enough to be professional for one more season. Who knows what will happen if he puts his head down and works hard with the rest of the team again.

Just make sure that Vidal and especially Suarez still exit. Because Bartomeu and Koeman did say Messi was part of their plans so no reason to change anything regarding exiting players.

He'll still own the locker room with or without an armband.
