There is no point having him around anymore, he has declined to the point B-players can fill his shoes and that with minimal wages.

Having Rakitic or not changes nothing. Hes utterly useless. Noone (sane) wants to go into the season with Busquets/Frenkie/Arthur/Puig (thats pure fiction on your part), but having Rakitic makes no difference at all (or minimal at best). How about finding a workhorse/physical midfielder, who actually contributes.

For someone who uses stats in almost every argument they make, to side with Rakitic over Vidal at this point can't be reasonably explained.

It's Busi - Frenkie - Vidal, or Busi - Frenkie - Arthur depending on Arthur's form coming back form his injury, and the way you wanna set up the midfield. You need more control and better possession & ball circulation, Arthur over Vidal for obvious reasons. You need a stronger physical presence and want more menace in the box, as well as more penetration and more directness, even at the cost of less control, it's Vidal over Arthur - again, for obvious reasons. You want neither, you go with Rakitic over both.

He is slower, but has a trickery that vidal doesnt have. Yes, i think he is a better 'baller' then vidal, but that doesnt mean that he is needed, hell no.

He's not a better passer than Vidal. He has a better more consistent long diagonal pass, but as far as splitting forward passes are concerned, assists, passes in the final third, Vidal is better as well.

He certainly doesn't have a better shot either. If he did he'd be scoring more than Vidal, which he isn't. Not by a long shot.
