Lionel Messi - v7

Is anyone 100% certain where we are up to as regards the Balon Dor / World player awards ??
I thought Messi and Ronaldo were tied on 5 awards each with the upcoming Balon Dor being crucial IF one of them were to win it .

I’ve seen quite a few reports suggesting that Messi has taken the lead (6:5) after the award he won the other evening but that was NOT a Balon Dor !?!?

There's two awards, the Fifa player of the year and the Ballon D'or.

Messi leads 6-5 with the Fifa player of the year having won the 2019 edition on Monday.

With the Ballon D'or, they are equal 5-5 but the 2019 Ballon D'or edition will be given in December.

I hope my explanation made sense.

Was it a relapse or something?

He needs to have it probably taken care of before playing again. No rushing him back, regardless of how bad we are on the pitch.

Messi was never the perfect physical specimen and when he was young he had many episodes of injuries. We just have to accept that he will likely get injured even more often with him getting much older, well into his 30's.

As much as we need him, it is time to starting waning ourselves off Messidependencia.

Nothing to do with his previous calf injury.

He strained his left adductor, a muscle close to the inner thigh and groin area.

I remember him having some groin problems last season, not sure if this is related to that.

I hope he doesnt have the same thing that caused Kaka to be finished soon

According to TV3, the recovery period is in between 7-10 days; however, if Messi can recover faster he might be on the squad for the Inter game. He is definitely missing the Getafe game. He is certainly to return for the game against Sevilla. Since Inter Milan being a home game, Barca wouldn't want to risk Messi. The maximum recovery period is 10 and days it is not anyway connected to the previous injury from which he just returned from.

If anything this reveals the “real” Barcelona. One that should be the true marker in deterring if the team is competitive

For me, the Ballon D'or

The Ballon D'or was first given in the 1950's while the Fifa player of the year started in the 1990's.

So it’s as I thought then .. tied ( at 5:5 ) and whoever gets the next and sixth one will reign supreme in the eyes of many ..

ballon d'or is more prestigious as it is older but its also more flawed as only the press votes (except for the time it joined with fifa) and they almost always select the best or most marketable player of the team that won the biggest trophy (like a bunch of autistic monkies)

at least with fifa you can win it on performance like Messi just did, so 6 world player of the year awards for Leo

"I cannot break, I cannot break," Messi was caught saying to Jordi Mesalles, one of Barcelona's physiotherapists, by El Golazo de Gol's cameras.
