It’s not suicidal if we control the game... if we have no midfield control like against Roma then it’s suicidal. But that’s more to do with how we are mentally rather than who we choose to play in midfield.

Arthur is a must. He can deal with the pressure. Put Vidal in for the last minutes.

The thing is, a lot of users wouldnt agree, but we better hope he has a great game, because that means if he plays good we usually play good. Im not saying that he is the reason why we play good, its just a fact.

I would say that most of the fans here like Rakitic a lot, despite his flaws. Every player has flaws, what matters is to use him in a role that minimizes them. And we do at Barcelona.

Of course the starting midfield will be arthur, rakitic and busi assuming no injuries. Vidal and roberto could be used as subs. Liverpools midfield is not the big problem with them, they are not at Reals level and those 3 for the most part did fine in the 3 crucial real matches earlier this year.
One key thing will be not counting on rakitic and busi to match liverpools counter. Of course they can't, but semedo/bob at rb and alba at lb need to be very disciplined--makensure one is always there to help pique/lenglet.

I think he is one of our most complacency-prone players. But when he puts in a shift, he is great. The problem is that the second happens in 1/3 of the games, because of either complacency or fatigue or both.
That said, this season, he has been much better than the first half of 17/18.
That said, we need to look for other players, since he is getting old and we should try to get some money for him this summer or in the summer of 2020, when De Jong settles in. We will probably need to sell to Sevilla, since he wants to finish there, but 30-40 million is better than for free.

Well to somehow single out Rakitic among the 4 regulars (with Arthur, Busi, Vidal) as somehow a singular problem with the midfield/team just isn't sensible, and I'll respond to an insult or out of whack post about a committed and effective Barca player, be it Rakitic, Busi, Suarez, Bob, Pique, etc, etc.
Now the statement below is just fine: "Every player has flaws, what matters is to use him in a role that minimizes them. And we do at Barcelona." You could even say Rakitic contributes to the slowness problems with Busi and I would somewhat agree--but it is equally on the latter as the former. Overall Rakitic is a major reason why we have a 9 point lead in the table, int he CL semis and in the CDR final. I would say at least one of the 6 most important reasons for why this year has been as great as it has been. Now it is time to give him plenty of rest outside of the 4 remaining critical fixtures.
I see him as a fringe / luxury player to be honest ..
He rarely scores , he doesn't provide anywhere near enough assists ( if any ) he doesn't tackle or break down attacks as he's too slow ( he's officially the club's slowest player ... Including the three keepers !) .. Hell , he doesn't even use the only good skill he has which is the long pass - he chooses to pass a short sideways ball or even more likely to pass BACKWARDS TO Pique !!

I do frequent other Barca forums and believe me .... he isn’t that popular with the fans there .
I get that he’s a real nice guy and all that but ...
