It seems more likely .I would think Mascherano more deserving but it seems that the arm band list have been La Masia exclusive since R10 left .he was the only one in top 4 list who wasn't from La Masia (he was 2nd to Puyol) since 2004
Frankly Lucho was the last team Captain who wasn't coming from la Masia

He is the type of player that needs a constant wake up call.
Since he has received quite a number of wake up calls this season, he has been absolutely world class. He is having one of the best seasons of his career, even rivaling that crazy 09/10 season where he used to skin CR for fun.
I credit a lot of his form this year to Lucho. Don't get me wrong I know Pique is a world class defender, but it seems as though Lucho gave him that extra motivation to go above and beyond.

I don't even really mind about the goals as such, they're just a byproduct of a focused Pique again. Instrumental at the back.

Yeah, Busquets already is. There are 4 captains. If Xavi leaves it'll be: Iniesta, Messi, Busquets, Pique.

In reality then our captain should be Mascherano, Busquets, Pique, Suarez. Messi and Iniesta are not leaders.

Mascherano can be very well a leader without the armband, which should be worn by the ones who really deserve it. Iniesta, Messi, Busquets and Pique that is.

It should be worn by the leader in a team, not a starplayer or homegrown type unless he has leadership qualities like Puyol. I don't see why a player deserves it or how that would factor in, its important what is best for the team.
Mascherano should be Argentina captain as well.
This picture proves my point entirely why the most suitable people for a job should have it:
What is the point of the armband if you don't give it to the most suitable player? just symbolics then, might as well play without.
