It's pretty clear.

Busi, MAtS, Roberto, Pique and Alba all need to go. Even if it means through contract termination. They are all physiologically broken and bring down the rest of the team (eventhough the others are crap as well).

The solution: Bring in some nasty aggressive mofos and thugs who wont back down from opposition I'm talking about players like Rudiger, Pepe, L Suarez, Ramos, Diego Costa like players.

Yeah, some alphas are needed in our defense for sure.

Like this dude:

And they are the 4 captains, with ter Stegen probably next in line

I don't even think we need a team full off thugs, but mentality is definitely off. Need some genuine confidence again, the players always saying Barca is the best team etc just comes off as delusional.

Also let's face it non of our captains is really the leader type, nothing wrong with that because not everyone fits that role but we can't just expect them to magically be leaders just by age. On top of that they aren't performing up to their status for quite some time already. Needs a new hierarchy, no more "dressing room heavyweights" that suck every important game.

It's hard to blame the heavyweights/veterans though and I stand by that. The generation that was supposed to take over failed horribly (Umtiti, Lenglet, Griezmann, Dembele, Coutinho, Arthur...). Now we have young talents, who look promising, Frenkie in the middle and four veterans left. It's rough. We axe Pique, Busquets, Alba + Roberto and we can open a kindergarten with no hope of getting enough players in their prime.

The sensible move is to keep the relevant veterans for depth (Busi+Alba) and reinforce the middle. But that's hard enough at is is... we somehow managed to lose our entire offense as well (or are in desperate need to rebuild it almost entirely) Fecking Bartomeu.

Yea, it's bad either way until we can bring in some players, but if we are shit, might as well bin the veterans since they bring absolutely nothing anymore. Keep Alba as a starter and that's all, since we have basically no LB. For the time being.

No clue why people are criticizing Xavi, after 4 games. Did anyone really imagine a better result than 3-0 against Bayern with the state we are in? The best coach ever could not have turned things around this soon with this squad.

It's a long, long journey so refrain from impulsive knee-jerk reactions. His post-match comments are inspiring confidence. You can tell he is different from the previous coaches and is not afraid to change things.

Good post.

I think Xavi and Laporta are very aware of the state of the squad and also what it will take to turn it around.

Laporta had an awful first half of the season in his first tenure.

He knew the profile of player needed for a quick fix.

That summer the board brought in winners, captains and big personalties (Deco, Giuly, Etoo) to completely revamp the squads quality and mentality.

The issue right now is quality and injuries. Then after there is no money to rectify it.

Patience is needed.

Look at Chelsea's CL winning lineup last year. Kante, Azpi, Chillwell, Mount, Jorginho, James, Werner - 7 of their outfield 10 were under 6 foot. Their lineup was shorter than the ones we field.

The problem is not height or weight, our players just suck, technically and in conditioning. Our technique isn't that great either is it? Our players constantly misplace simple passes and make rookie mistakes every game. Simply put, we just have an inferior squad that were worse than Bayern in everything. Nothing to do with height or being choir boys.

I disagree.
1. Chelsea's players are all around 180cm
Average of our boys is closer to 175
2. Chelsea's guys weight way more and have more muscles. Their average weight is around 75-80kg
Bayern's average weight is around 75-80kg.
Barca's weight is closer to 60-68kg range.
3. even Barca's women team has higher or equal height to our Barca DNA players.
4. even a weight of Barca's women team is almost the same as guys.

Chelsea height from players you mentioned:
180 Mount
180 Chilwell
180 Jorginho
180 Werner
179 James
178 Azpi

Now let's check the current Barca's gems:
188 Nico
178 Fati
177 Abde
174 Pedri
173 Gavi
169 Puig

Barca women team:
178 Rolfo
177 Paredes
177 Syrstad Engen
175 Hermoso
175 Crnogorcevic
173 Putellas
173 Oshoala
170 Martens

Weight:
Chelsea, CL final:
91 James
85 Rudiger
83 Havertz
79 Thiago Silva
77 Azpi
76 Werner
74 Mount
70 Kante
68 Jorginho

Bayern weight vs Barca 3 days ago:
81 Lewa
81 Tolisso
81 Pavard
80 Sane
76 Muller
76 Coman
75 Davies
70 Musiala

Barca weight:
76 Busquets
76 Garcia
68 Jordi Alba
68 Gavi
68 Coutinho
67 Dembele
66 Fati
62 Dest
60 Pedri
56 Puig

Barca Women football team weight:
67kg Alexia Putellas
66 Lieke Martens
66 Graham Hansen
65 Rolfo
65 Ana Crnogorcevic
65 Syrstad Engen
62 Mariona Caldentey
62 Paredes
61 Pilar Leon
60 Oshoala

In short:
1. Barca on average is the shortest among top15 biggest European teams
2. Barca on average has the lowest weight among top 15 biggest European teams
3. Barca on average has the lowest amount of muscles among top 15 biggest European teams
4. unrelated to physique, but related to aggression, mental strength and fighters: Barca has the lowest number of players with shaved heads, beards, tattoos, who ever kicked the opponent in this way or another during the match
5. Barca's female team is taller, weighs more, has more muscles and is probably more likely to survive in a fight and not crumble under pressure when anyone pushes you 2 times in a row on a match

In short:

We are weaker than other top teams physically, but that's not a specific issue, we are weaker than other top teams in everything in general (our players are just worse).

Acting like we'd be good if Garcia and Coutinho hit the gym is dumb. Our 11 we had out there, was just not good enough. Technically, physically or otherwise.

There are heavy and strong players in our team (Depay, Nico, Mingueza, Araujo etc) that for some reason you chose to leave out on your post, but again, these guys just aren't good enough, them being heavy doesn't matter.

The women’s and men’s team had the same type of development so what is missing? I think the women’s team just reached their golden era roster wise. But again that’s all Barca development

I agree.
But imo, in Barcaworld (our club, presidents, sporting directors, coaches, La Masia, sportpapers around Barca), not too many understand this.
They live in a dreamland where we won everything with short Messi, Xavi and Iniesta.
But we didn't won BECAUSE of their physique, but in spite of it.
And we won because they were the best players ever.

So:
1. if you have TECHNICALLY the best players ever, you CAN survive with average physique
2. but there are 2 problems:
1) if you don't have by far superior technique, then you will lose by majority of European teams who have similar technique as you (slightly better or slighty worse) but who have a superior physique.
And since we will never repeat the talent of Messi, Xavi and Iniesta = this is our future => losing to any average European team since everyone has the similar technique as us and everyone are way superior in physique and mental strength.
2) and the another problem is = the opponents eveolved since 2010 because they all: 1) took the best parts of our techhnical football 2) everyone evolved A LOT in terms of physique at all levels (pace, stamina, covered distance, pressing, height, weight, muscles).
Yet, we downgraded in both technique, physique and in terms of leaders/captains/combative players.

And further: I don't see too much indications that we are doing anything in that area.
Xavi/Laporta want Olmo who isn't too fast or too physical, he is just another weird attacking midfielder-no10-winger hybrid.

Muller said exactly that: Barca can't cope with the intensity.
And intensity comes from 2 things:
1. having players with a natural good physique = players who are naturally fast, have stamina, have some muscles
2. and good training regimes who will lift those players with natural physique even further

But on a PlanetBarca, all you will see is: we need technically better players. We need to have more contriol, we need to have more possession, we need to combine better.
They all live in the past, ina parallel univers where Barca won in 2011 and they think it is possible to still win with more or less the same tactics.
But the problems are:
1. we will never have such a team again
2. the opponents have evolved a lot since then
3. we don't have Pep to play that style
4. even Pep evolved his style with taller, stronger, faster players
